As of the morning of July 9, 2025, the whole country has supported the construction and repair of a total of 41,632 houses for people with revolutionary contributions, including 34,792 houses that have been inaugurated and 6,840 houses under construction.
Minister of Ethnic Minorities and Religions Dao Ngoc Dung said that according to the master plan, the program to eliminate temporary housing nationwide is targeted to be completed by August 25, 2025. However, in the spirit of gratitude and responsibility, the Prime Minister has requested to speed up the progress and completely complete the support for building houses for people with meritorious services, relatives and families of martyrs before July 27 this year.
This is not only an administrative directive, but also a strong message about the morality of "remembering the source of water", affirming the gratitude of the Party, State and People to those who sacrificed and contributed to the independence and freedom of the Fatherland.
According to the plan, on July 24, the Government will hold a meeting with outstanding individuals representing millions of meritorious people across the country. By that time, the housing support results for this policy group must reach 100%.
"It is not just a number, but it will be a concrete and vivid demonstration of the comprehensive, profound and responsible attention of the entire political system and society in the journey of gratitude and repayment," the Minister emphasized.
From Central to local: Unanimity, unity
Immediately after the Prime Minister signed Official Dispatch No. 84/CD-TTg dated June 8, 2025 on accelerating the program's progress, localities nationwide urgently reviewed, updated actual data and mobilized maximum resources.
Many provinces and cities have committed to completing all houses for people with meritorious services, relatives and families of martyrs before July 27. The entire political system from the province to the grassroots level has strongly participated. Mass organizations, police forces, military, businesses, philanthropists and people have joined hands to support human and material resources, contributing to speeding up the construction progress.
In Quang Tri - a land of much pain and also a place that marks historical feats, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Phong has committed to starting construction of all houses for meritorious people, relatives and families of martyrs before July 15, showing deep gratitude.
Thai Nguyen - known as the cradle of patriotism, resilience and heroic revolutionary tradition of the nation, the work of eliminating temporary houses for people with meritorious services is entering the "sprint" phase. According to Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Loan, as of July 8, the locality still has 15 temporary houses for people with meritorious services that have not been started. The province is committed to completing the construction of all these houses within the next week. Along with that, the communes in the merged area from Bac Kan province (old) are also required to urgently review, update data and report fully before July 10 so that the province can promptly direct and not miss any policy beneficiaries in this meaningful support period.
In Dak Lak, provincial leaders shared that the locality still has 686 houses in need of support (new construction and repair), of which 19 houses for people with meritorious services, relatives, and families of martyrs have been directed by the province to start construction and will be completed before July 15.
Chairman of Phu Tho Provincial People's Committee Tran Duy Dong said that the province identified the program of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses as a particularly important task. Immediately after implementing the administrative unit merger, the province quickly completed the Provincial Steering Committee, mobilizing the entire political system to implement the program resolutely and effectively.
The total number of houses in need of support for new construction and repair in the area is 11,152. To date, the province has completed 10,804 houses. The remaining houses will be simultaneously started on July 13, in which the group of meritorious people, relatives and families of martyrs will continue to be given top priority to ensure completion before July 27.
Localities only have a few weeks left to accelerate and resolutely complete the project on time, especially the July 27, 2025 deadline - the time when the whole country pays tribute to heroic martyrs and people with revolutionary contributions.
A message rich in humanistic meaning, depicting the tradition of "remembering the source of water you drink"
A report from the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions - the standing agency of the Central Steering Committee for the Program to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses - shows that as of the morning of July 9, 2025, the whole country has supported the construction and repair of a total of 264,522 houses. Of which, 229,328 houses have been completed and put into use; 35,194 houses are under construction. Notably, the group of people with revolutionary contributions alone has had 41,632 houses supported, including 34,792 houses that have been inaugurated and 6,840 houses under construction.
From now until the end of the program (August 31, 2025), the whole country still has 25,232 houses to be completed, of which 18,799 are under construction and 6,433 have not yet started construction. Particularly, the group of meritorious people still has 2,371 houses to be completed, including 1,249 houses under construction and 1,122 houses have not yet started construction. Thus, localities only have a few weeks to speed up and resolutely complete on time, especially the July 27, 2025 deadline - the time when the whole country pays tribute to heroic martyrs and people with meritorious services to the revolution.
The effort to complete 100% of housing for people with meritorious services, relatives and families of martyrs has a particularly profound political and social significance. This is a practical work, a message rich in humanistic meaning, depicting the tradition of "remembering the source of drinking water" and marking the sincere gratitude of the entire political system and the entire people to those who have fallen or contributed to today's peace.
