Speaking at the meeting, Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh emphasized that the city currently has a response scenario for each level of natural disaster, along with experience in responding to storms and floods in previous years. Therefore, units and localities, according to their functions and practical situations, must immediately deploy timely prevention plans, especially flood and landslide prevention in high-risk areas.

The Department of Construction urgently reviews and inspects the dredging of drainage systems, clearing of manholes, canals, sewers, ditches, and drainage shafts at risk of blockage; and manholes of construction routes at risk of flooding residential areas.

The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development reviews locations at risk of landslides, directs, inspects, and urges localities to deploy work to ensure the safety of irrigation dams, especially critical dams.

The City Military Command, the City Border Guard Command, and the City Police proactively deployed armed forces at key locations at high risk of flooding.

At the same time, organize counting, strictly manage and maintain communication with vessels still operating at sea, focus on guiding and urging fishing vessels to immediately leave dangerous areas.

Cam Le District People's Committee urgently proposed a plan to prevent landslides at Cam Le Industrial Park, absolutely ensuring safety of people's lives and limiting property damage.

The Department of Information and Communications has implemented comprehensive response measures to ensure uninterrupted communication. Media agencies have increased broadcasting time; reported timely, complete and accurate information on natural disasters; promoted propaganda and dissemination of knowledge to guide people in implementing safety measures and minimizing damage.

“The entire political system must urgently take action, closely monitor the developments of tropical depressions that are likely to strengthen into storms to proactively deploy plans and measures for prevention and response, and not be subjective or negligent in the work of preventing tropical depressions and heavy rains,” emphasized Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Trung Chinh.

According to the report of the Central Central Region Hydrometeorological Station, at 1:00 p.m. on September 17, the center of the tropical depression was at about 16.8 degrees north latitude; 119.0 degrees east longitude, in the eastern sea of ​​the North East Sea, about 820km east of Hoang Sa archipelago.

The strongest wind near the center of the tropical depression is level 7 (50-61km/h), gusting to level 9; moving mainly to the West at a speed of about 25km/h.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the tropical depression will continue to move mainly in the West-Southwest direction at a very fast speed of about 20-25km/h and is likely to strengthen into a storm, becoming the 4th storm in the East Sea this year.

It is forecasted that from the night of September 18 to 20, in Da Nang city, there will likely be moderate rain, heavy rain in some places, very heavy rain with total rainfall of 80-150mm, in some places over 200mm.

There is a possibility of a wave of fluctuations on the rivers in the Da Nang area. There is a risk of urban flooding in low-lying and poorly drained areas and a risk of flash floods and landslides in mountainous areas.

Regarding the implementation of response work to natural disasters, as of 2:00 p.m. on September 17, the total number of ships anchored at the city's ports was 1,091 vehicles/7,801 workers, and 68 vehicles/515 workers operating at sea.

Currently, the vehicles operating at sea have grasped the developments and movement direction of the storm. The units and stations on duty of the City Border Guard are maintaining information and communication with the vehicles operating at sea, announcing calls and instructions to avoid entering dangerous areas or to go ashore for safe shelter.

Up to now, the Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Company has dredged more than 17,800 drainage ditches and water intakes on roads under its management; dredged about 3,913 m3 of mud and soil on 40 drainage lines in localities.
