Air Force One carrying US President Joe Biden has just arrived at Noi Bai Airport ( Hanoi ). After the welcoming ceremony at Noi Bai Airport, President Joe Biden went to the Presidential Palace to attend the welcoming ceremony chaired by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

Welcoming the US President and his delegation at the airport were: Head of the Central External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung; Chairman of the Hanoi People's Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan; Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Quoc Dung; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ha Kim Ngoc; Director of the State Protocol Department (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Nguyen Viet Dung; and a number of officials of the Central External Relations Commission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , US President Joe Biden will pay a state visit to Vietnam on September 10-11 at the invitation of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

This is President Joe Biden's first visit to Vietnam since he took office in early 2021.

Accompanying the US President were: Secretary of State Antony Blinken; US Ambassador to Vietnam Marc Knapper; National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan; Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry; Assistant to the President, Deputy National Security Advisor John Finer; Deputy Assistant to the President, Special Coordinator for the National Security Council Kurt Campbell; Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Kritenbrink; Special Advisor to the President, Senior Director of the National Security Council Mira Rapp-Hooper; Special Advisor to the President, Senior Director of the National Security Council Tarun Chhabra.

Vietnam and the US officially normalized relations in July 1995 and upgraded to Comprehensive Partnership in July 2013, with many high-level visits by leaders of the two countries. The two sides cooperate in all fields: Politics - diplomacy, economics, education, science - technology, defense - security...

The first US President to visit Vietnam after the two countries established diplomatic relations was Bill Clinton in November 2000. Since then, US presidents have visited Vietnam, including George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump.

This year the two countries celebrate 10 years of Comprehensive Partnership.
