On the morning of September 27th, the Indian destroyer INS Rana, commanded by Colonel Atul Deswal and carrying approximately 400 military personnel, docked at Saigon port, beginning a four-day visit to Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the plan, the ship's officers and crew will participate in cultural, sports , and defense exchange activities with the Vietnamese Navy. In addition, INS Rana will join Vietnamese naval vessels in joint formation maneuvers at sea.
Mr. Deswal emphasized that the visit of the INS Rana aims to enhance maritime cooperation between the navies of the two countries, strengthen the friendship between the two nations, and contribute to ensuring security and stability in the region.
The INS Rana, commissioned in 1982, is 146.5 meters long, 15.8 meters wide, and has a displacement of over 4,000 tons. Its armament includes S-125M anti-aircraft missiles, SS-N-2D Styx AShM anti-ship missiles, and 76.2 mm cannons.
