General Secretary and President To Lam's first visit to India since the 14th Party Congress and after the 16th National Assembly completed the appointment of the highest-ranking leaders of the State, National Assembly, and Government of Vietnam coincided with the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Vietnam and India.
Vietnam and India have enjoyed a long-standing tradition of friendship and cooperation spanning decades. Both sides share broad common ground on global , continental, and regional issues. Bilateral cooperation is robust, and collaboration on multilateral issues is highly effective.
However, ten years after the two countries established their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, the world, the continent, and the two surrounding regions—Vietnam and India themselves—have fundamentally changed. Challenges and complexities have become more numerous and diverse, stemming from developments in the world, continent, and region across all dimensions. The need for socio -economic development and international integration for both countries is now much greater. Simultaneously, over the past decade, both countries have achieved impressive development successes and significantly increased their international prestige and standing. These factors now compel both sides to jointly create a new era of cooperation. Currently, the demands of reality, favorable conditions, and the opportune moment allow the two countries to forge a new historical turning point for their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
Viewing it this way reveals the immense significance and importance of the current visit to India by General Secretary and President To Lam. The results of the visit pave the way for Vietnam and India to enter a new era of friendship and cooperation towards a bright future. Building on the existing bilateral relationship, more economic, trade, and investment cooperation projects will be agreed upon, along with cultural exchanges, educational and training cooperation, and people-to-people trade between the two countries.
Looking at the broader picture, the State visit of General Secretary and President To Lam to India seizes the opportunity and takes advantage of a favorable moment for Vietnam and India to jointly define a new dimension for their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in the new era of Vietnam's prosperous development and India's new stage of development. The new situation in the world and in both countries demands a new substance, a new orientation, new goals, and a new scale for the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. India is becoming more important to Vietnam, just as Vietnam is becoming more important to India.
Such partnerships enable both sides to leverage untapped potential and strengths, and contribute more significantly and practically to shaping a shared future for the outside world, especially for the Indo-Pacific region.
