According to the report of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department, from the beginning of the year to March 15, the unit has processed nearly 45,000 import-export declarations, an increase of 25% over the same period in 2023 with a total import-export value of 5.3 billion USD, an increase of 21%. Of which, exports reached 2.15 billion USD, an increase of 21.7% and imports reached 3.15 billion USD, an increase of 20.6%.
The turnover increased in both export and import directions because the import-export supply chain is showing signs of recovery. Many import-export enterprises operating in key commodity groups with large import-export turnover of the province have received orders again.
Some major imported items with increased turnover include iron and steel and iron and steel products up 42.37%; petroleum-derived oil, excluding crude oil up 447.39%; aluminum and aluminum products up 61.87%; gas of all kinds up 50.7%; machinery and equipment up 41.94%; ships up 32.97%; cereals and soybeans up 27.41%.
On the other hand, some major export items had increased turnover such as fruit export increased by 9.81%; iron and steel increased by 42.39%; seafood increased by 4.06%; plastic and plastic products increased by 104.24%; machinery and equipment increased by 74.21%; wood and wood products increased by 26.44%; non-woven products increased by 19.01%.
The improvement in import-export activities has contributed to positive results in the budget collection of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department. Specifically, the total revenue as of March 15 reached VND 4,000 billion, an increase of 14% over the same period in 2023. Thus, the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Customs Department has completed 22% of the budget revenue target assigned in 2024.
