Trade and services meet people's shopping needs

Along with the development of social life, people's shopping needs are increasing, not only stopping at "full food, warm clothes" but also aiming at convenience, quality and safety. To meet the increasing demands of the people, the Industry and Trade Department of Tay Ninh province is constantly expanding its distribution network, maintaining a stable supply, helping people feel more secure in their daily consumption.

The distribution network of goods is increasingly developed.

Overcoming difficulties due to people's purchasing power being affected by the general economic situation, trade and service activities in the province still maintained their vitality, with quite impressive growth.

In the first 8 months of 2025, the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue is estimated at VND 163,506 billion, up 15.46% over the same period. Of which, retail sales of goods reached VND 118,145 billion (up 16.03%), accommodation and catering services reached VND 17,897 billion (up 14.07%), tourism services reached VND 107.3 billion (up 48.3%) and other services reached VND 27,355.9 billion (up 13.86%).

Contributing to that growth is the strong development of the goods distribution network in the area. The whole province currently has 234 markets, 20 supermarkets, 3 commercial centers: 2 Vincom Plaza, Aeon Tan An and 432 convenience stores in operation. This development contributes to the formation of a more modern appearance of trade and services, meeting daily shopping needs and improving the consumer experience for people.

Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Huynh Van Quang Hung said that in order to promote the development of e-commerce, in recent times, the Department has focused on supporting enterprises, production and business establishments, specifically: providing market information, organizing trade promotion activities (domestic and international); supporting the application of e-commerce and brand building; providing information and supporting the implementation of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs); promoting administrative reforms to facilitate business activities.

Mr. Huynh Van Quang Hung added that the Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Industry and Trade have just organized a conference to connect the supply chain of import-export goods and e-commerce in Tay Ninh province in 2025 with the participation of more than 140 foreign enterprises from 25 countries, along with transnational distribution corporations such as Central Retail, Aeon, Walmart, Amazon, Alibaba,... This is an opportunity for enterprises in the province to expand the market, build brands, participate deeply in the global supply chain, thereby enhancing competitiveness and affirming the position of Tay Ninh goods in the market.

In the general picture of the province's trade and services, food distribution enterprises are also constantly expanding their sales channels, ensuring a stable supply to serve the increasing needs of the people. In particular, San Ha Company Limited is one of the leading units with a closed chain model, focusing on both direct and online sales channels.

A representative of San Ha Co., Ltd. shared: “With our fresh food product line, we identify the core factors as quality, dedicated service and competitive prices. The company proactively plans production and business, and controls input materials well to ensure both safe food sources and stable prices, especially during peak shopping seasons. San Ha Co., Ltd. also expands its distribution channels from the store system, home delivery to supplying school kitchens, restaurants, hotels, etc. to meet the increasingly diverse needs of customers.”

Ms. Ngo Hanh - owner of Green Food Market (Long An ward), said: “Consumers today are very concerned about the quality and origin of products. Therefore, the store always focuses on importing goods with clear origin, origin, variety, and reasonable prices. In addition, we expand the display area, create a friendly shopping space, combine direct and online sales. Promotional programs and interactive activities on social networks are also promoted to better connect with customers.”

Digital transformation - an important stepping stone

Currently, the digital transformation process in the field of e-commerce is creating deep and wide impacts, becoming an important stepping stone for socio-economic development in many localities, bringing practical benefits to both businesses and consumers. Digital platforms are effectively exploited, helping businesses access new distribution methods, reducing costs compared to traditional business, thereby improving competitiveness and having more opportunities to enter new markets.

A typical example is My Thanh Agricultural Cooperative (My Thanh commune). With a vegetable growing area of over 35 hectares and associated cooperatives, the unit supplies over 1,000 tons of VietGAP-standard vegetables, tubers and fruits each year to Co.opmart, companies in Ho Chi Minh City and many neighboring provinces.

In particular, the Cooperative also applies digital transformation in the production and distribution process such as using traceability technology, using Facefarm and Sapo software in management, etc. At the same time, the Cooperative brings products to major e-commerce platforms such as Lazada, Sendo, Tiki, Postmart, etc., combining promotion on the Cooperative's website to expand the consumption market, gradually approaching the export market.

Consumers shop for household items and personal items on e-commerce platforms.

Le Thi Hang, Business Director of My Thanh Agricultural Cooperative, said: “We identify digital transformation as a sustainable solution to increase the value of agricultural products. Applying technology helps the cooperative save costs, provide transparent information and increase customer trust.” Thanks to these efforts, in 2024, My Thanh Agricultural Cooperative won the “Cooperative Star Award” and received the Emulation Flag from the People's Committee of Long An province (before the merger).

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, developing e-commerce is an important solution to help promote e-commerce closer to the people in the coming time. Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Huynh Van Quang Hung commented: "We need to soon complete the legal corridor, in which the Law on E-commerce must be issued to ensure the legitimate rights of the participating parties, create a transparent playground and healthy competition. In addition, completing the information technology infrastructure in terms of transmission speed and security solutions will help online transactions take place smoothly."

According to Mr. Huynh Van Quang Hung, the Industry and Trade sector is focusing on training IT human resources; increasing support for small and medium enterprises in digital transformation, encouraging technological innovation, and protecting intellectual property rights. On the business side, in addition to improving product quality, it is necessary to develop more after-sales services to retain customers, contributing to building brand reputation.

Due to her busy work, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy (living in Khanh Hau ward) often prioritizes shopping for household items and personal items on e-commerce platforms. Ms. Thuy shared: “Shopping online helps me save time and money, has everything I need, and has a variety of designs to choose from. I always prioritize genuine products with clear origin information and reasonable listed prices for peace of mind. Hopefully, in the future, e-commerce platforms will continue to improve to ensure the quality of goods reaching consumers.”

With the initiative and direction of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade and the efforts of enterprises, cooperatives,... the retail market of Tay Ninh province is expected to continue to develop sustainably, increasingly meeting the shopping needs of the people. Thereby, contributing to improving the quality of life, creating momentum for the local economy to develop sustainably./.
