At around 10:20 a.m. the same day, while patrolling the Thuan Tay hamlet area (Ben Cau commune), the commune police force discovered two women carrying suitcases of luggage walking near the border area and showing many suspicious signs, so they invited them to the headquarters for questioning. The police force identified them as NND (21 years old, residing in Long Binh ward, Dong Nai province) and D.TXM (20 years old, residing in Phuoc An commune, Dong Nai province); both are students.
Working with the police, D. and M. said that both of them received threatening phone calls related to the drug case from a group of people claiming to be police officers. This group asked the two children to "cooperate in the investigation to prove their innocence" and not to reveal the information to anyone, including relatives.
Afterwards, the group asked D. and M. to rent a hotel room to work online via the Zoom application. During the "working session", 4-5 people dressed in police uniforms appeared, continuously applying pressure, demanding money to ignore the case. However, due to lack of money, the two female students were asked to go to the Moc Bai border gate area ( Tay Ninh ) to have someone pick them up to go to Cambodia to resolve the case. When approaching the border area, both were discovered by Ben Cau Commune Police and promptly stopped, avoiding the risk of being illegally taken abroad.
After working with the authorities, D. and M. realized they were victims of a sophisticated scam. Ben Cau Commune Police contacted the family to take D. and M. home that same afternoon.
The incident is being verified and investigated by the authorities.
