Ms. Dinh Thi Angop (born in 1986, O village, An Trung commune, Kong Chro district) is a victim of Agent Orange, living in difficult circumstances in the locality. Previously, her family lived in a cramped, seriously degraded house.
Understanding the situation, in mid-December 2023, the Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in Kong Chro district allocated funds from the Fund for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin in the district to support the construction of a "House of Love" for Ms. Angop's family. After more than 1 month of construction, the house with an area of 36 m2 including: 1 living room; 1 bedroom with tiled floor, corrugated iron roof with a total cost of 80 million VND was completed.
“In the past, my father, Mr. Dinh Yinh (deceased), participated in the resistance war against the US. Because he was exposed to toxic chemicals during the war, I was affected. The family was poor and had poor health, so we did not have the means to repair the house. Thanks to the District Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin, we were able to build a solid house. This year, my family was able to celebrate Tet in a spacious and well-furnished house, so we were very excited. I thank everyone very much,” Ms. Angop confided.
Mr. Dinh Kot - Head of O village said: Mrs. Angop's family is a near-poor household. Previously, Mrs. Angop's family temporarily borrowed land from Mr. Dinh Angim (same village, Mrs. Angop's real brother) to build a house to live in. With support from the District Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin and Mr. Angim's 60 m2 land, the couple was able to build a new house.
“The completion of the house has brought great joy to the family. This is a condition to help them stabilize their lives,” Mr. Kot added.

In addition to supporting house construction, in recent years, the District Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims has also used funds to support victims with interest-free loans to invest in economic development.
For the family of Mr. Nguyen Quang Dieu (born in 1954, village 9, Yang Trung commune), the pain left by the war was too great when both he and his first child were infected with Agent Orange/dioxin. Mr. Dieu shared: He was from Thanh Mien district, Hai Duong province. In 1970, he joined the army and participated in the resistance war in the Southeast battlefield. After the country was reunified, he returned to his hometown to build a family and had 4 children.
In 2003, his family moved to An Trung commune to do business. Understanding the situation, in 2021, his family received a 10 million VND interest-free loan from the District Association of Agent Orange/Dioxin Victims. From this money, he invested in buying fertilizer to grow 1 hectare of sugarcane. At the same time, with the money he saved, he dug a pond to raise fish. Thanks to that, his family's life improved.
“Due to participating in the resistance war, my first daughter and I were infected with Agent Orange, our health declined, and our economy was difficult. I am very happy to receive the constant care and support from the District Association of Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin. This is the motivation that helps my family overcome the pain and move forward in life,” Mr. Dieu expressed.
