Lao Dong Newspaper reported that hermit crabs are also known as hermit crabs. The reason they have this special name is because they are crustaceans that often live and hide inside empty snail shells and carry the shell with them when moving.
According to VTC News, hermit crabs often appear in mangrove forests, places near the sea or areas with humid climates.
It is the strange habits of this small crustacean that have created a strong attraction for young people.
In Vietnam and many places around the world , many coastal areas where hermit crabs live are gradually being concreted to serve tourism, so the number of hermit crabs in the wild is not much left.
Many people have raised this type of snail. In recent years, many young people in Vietnam have turned to the hobby of raising hermit crabs instead of other expensive animals. In addition to being different, this type of snail is popular because of its beautiful color and affordable price.
Moreover, raising hermit crabs is not only a hobby but can also help many young people develop their economy .
Nong Thon Viet reported that Ms. Nguyen Hong Kim Phung (born in 2005, Vinh Long ) learned about hermit crabs ten years ago and loved them very much. At that time, she was still a student and did not have much money, so she could only buy 2-3 snails at the school gate to raise, with prices ranging from only 5,000-20,000 VND/snail. After that, seeing the potential, she also tried importing hermit crabs to sell.
Around mid-2017, Ms. Kim Phung started selling online and sharing her knowledge and experience in caring for hermit crabs.
According to Ms. Kim Phung, there are many different types of hermit crabs, both domestic and imported. Domestic hermit crabs are much cheaper than imported ones. Domestic hermit crabs can cost only 5 thousand VND each or several tens to hundreds of thousands of VND each. But imported hermit crabs can cost up to 2-3 million VND each. Each type is different in color, claws, legs, antennae, eyes... and has a different beauty.
Talking about how to take care of hermit crabs, Ms. Kim Phung said that the food is vegetables, meat, and fish. Hermit crabs also do not eat regularly, feeding them once every 2 days in the evening. Taking care of hermit crabs does not take too much time because they can be raised in a tank, and their living environment will be cleaned once every 6 months...
