What are the 5 key tasks assigned by the Prime Minister to VNPT?

On the afternoon of September 6, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and spoke at the ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the tradition and receive the title of Labor Hero of the Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group ( VNPT ) (according to Chinhphu.vn)

This is the second time that Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) has been honored to be awarded the title of Hero of Labor for its outstanding achievements in creative labor, contributing to the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.

The country's leading digital technology corporation

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, awarding the title of Labor Hero for the second time to VNPT, speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highly appreciated the glorious and heroic tradition of VNPT, the pioneering, exemplary, decisive spirit, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, daring to surpass oneself of generations of leaders, the Prime Minister summarized the 5 main achievements of the Group. Specifically: The Group is a force that effectively contributes to the success of the resistance wars against invaders and to protect the Fatherland; makes important contributions to socio-economic development; plays a core role in national digital transformation; contributes to strengthening the country's defense - security potential and digital sovereignty; promotes deep international integration and enhances Vietnam's position.

“With its great contributions to the cause of national construction and development, the Party, State and Government have awarded VNPT many noble titles, such as the Ho Chi Minh Medal (1990), the Gold Star Medal (1995), the First Class Labor Medal (2009), and the first Labor Hero Title (2009) ,” Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated.

Pioneering research, mastering core technology

According to the Prime Minister, today, the world is changing strongly on the basis of breakthrough technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, blockchain, Internet of Things, biotechnology, renewable energy... This is both an opportunity and a challenge for every country and every business.

For Vietnam, our Party has issued Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation. In the near future, the Central Committee will issue a Resolution on state economic development, which will create more impetus for the state economy to develop to its full potential, including VNPT Group.

Regarding VNPT Group, the Prime Minister has issued a Decision approving the Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2035, and recently, the Government issued Resolution No. 186/NQ-CP dated June 25, 2025 merging the Telecommunication Services Corporation and the Communications Corporation into the Group's Parent Company.

According to the decisions, directions and development orientations of the Group, it will become a technology corporation that takes digital infrastructure, digital technology and digital services as the mainstay, owns and exploits the platforms and infrastructure pillars of the national digital infrastructure, is a pioneer in researching and mastering digital technology and providing digital ecosystems in all areas of socio-economic life, based on strengths in digital platforms, core technology and network security...

To achieve the set goals, contributing to the realization of the 2025 growth target of 8.3-8.5%, the Prime Minister requested the Group to promote its glorious tradition, continue to innovate, dare to think and dare to do, change its thinking and working methods according to the motto "resources originate from thinking and vision, motivation originates from innovation and creativity, strength originates from people and businesses"; "must look far and wide, think deeply, do big" with a practical approach, respond flexibly, appropriately and effectively to the rapidly changing real situation, focusing on restructuring the Group.

Pioneering in implementing 5 key tasks

Firstly , be exemplary and take the lead in research, application of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, pioneering research, mastering core technologies. Proactively invest, research, master, and apply core and key technologies such as AI, Big Data, Cloud, IoT, 5G/6G, and cyber security; need to invest heavily in research labs, cooperate with domestic and international institutes and universities to create "made in Vietnam" technology products and services with high competitiveness.

Second , proactively create a national innovation ecosystem through building an open ecosystem to accompany and support technology startups to develop and create breakthrough products, services and solutions. VNPT needs to become a "launching pad" for creative ideas, contributing to the formation of a vibrant, interconnected technology community and the economy.

Third , play a "core" role in national digital transformation, promote the construction of digital infrastructure through: Synchronously deploying national digital infrastructure, ensuring safe and smooth connection from the central to local levels; developing shared digital platforms, effectively serving the "Digital Government", "Digital Economy", "Digital Society", "Digital Citizens" and supporting ministries, branches, localities, small and medium enterprises to actively participate in the digital transformation process, shortening the development gap between regions.

Fourth , linking economic development with national defense and security tasks. VNPT needs to resolutely implement technological solutions, contributing to making the digital economy a new, sustainable driving force for the country's development, accounting for at least 20% of GDP and helping the country's GDP growth reach 8.3-8.5% this year and double-digit growth in the coming years; moving towards a digital economy accounting for 30% of GDP by 2030 according to the goal of the National Digital Transformation Program, while ensuring network safety and security, maintaining national digital sovereignty; becoming a core force in preventing cyber warfare, protecting citizen data and the political system in the cyber environment.

Fifth, promote the traditional strength of the revolutionary postal industry and VNPT people to build a team of high-quality cadres and technology engineers with foresight, strong political will, daring to think, daring to do, daring to take responsibility, daring to commit, daring to sacrifice, daring to pioneer in innovation and international integration, effectively contributing to the implementation of strategic breakthroughs in developing high-quality human resources of the country.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the Government will always accompany, listen, remove difficulties, and create favorable mechanisms for VNPT to maximize its potential and fulfill its mission; wish VNPT to step firmly and develop strongly, worthy of being a pillar of the national digital infrastructure and believe that VNPT will continue to conquer new heights, contributing significantly to realizing the aspiration of a strong and prosperous Vietnam, firmly entering a new era of prosperity, prosperity, civilization, and happiness, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers.
