Celebrating 50 years of Vietnam - Japan diplomatic relations

DTO - On the afternoon of October 27, the Provincial Union of Friendship Organizations coordinated with the Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of the province and Dong Thap University to organize a ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973 - September 21, 2023). Attending the ceremony were Mr. Tran Tri Quang - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Ono Masuo - Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City.

Vietnam and Japan have a long-standing friendship, exchange and cooperation relationship. On September 21, 1973, the two countries officially signed the establishment of diplomatic relations. Over the past 50 years, with the determination and continuous efforts of the people of the two countries, the friendly and cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan has become increasingly sustainable. In the warm atmosphere of friendship and solidarity of the ceremony, delegates enjoyed special performances, a performance of traditional costumes of Vietnam and Japan, an exhibition of friendship paintings on Vietnamese conical hats and enjoyed Japanese tea ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Tri Quang emphasized that, based on the good relationship between Vietnam and Japan, in recent years, the friendly and cooperative relationship between Dong Thap province and Japanese partners has developed strongly. Through the support and connection of the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, Dong Thap province has strengthened friendly relations and signed cooperation agreements with the Japanese government, businesses, corporations, and non-governmental organizations. From 2017 to present, the whole province has more than 9,000 workers living, studying and working in Japan, contributing greatly to the local socio -economic development. At the same time, he hoped that the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City would continue to be a bridge to help Dong Thap connect with Japanese investors to learn about and invest in the locality in the coming time.

Mr. Ono Masuo - Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City expressed his joy at the good development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries; highly appreciated the dynamism, potential and strengths of Dong Thap province. Mr. Ono Masuo said that after Dong Thap province improves its transport infrastructure, Japanese enterprises will expand their business and investment in the province. As a bridge, the Consulate General of Japan also wishes to cooperate with Dong Thap province and promote the attractiveness of investment in Dong Thap province to Japanese enterprises.

On this occasion, Dong Thap Provincial People's Committee presented souvenirs to the Consulate General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City.
