On May 20, at the Party Central Committee Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received First Deputy Secretary General of South Africa's ruling African National Congress (ANC), Nomvula Mokonyane.
At the reception, General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy and welcomed First Deputy Secretary General of the ANC Nomvula Mokonyane leading a high-ranking delegation of the ANC to visit Vietnam on the occasion of many important events in Vietnam.
Recalling his impressions of the high-level phone call with Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa - President of the ANC Party and President of South Africa last April, General Secretary To Lam affirmed that the visit of the First Deputy Secretary General of the ANC Party will contribute to tightening the relationship between the two Parties and further promoting the friendship, cooperation and good traditions between Vietnam and South Africa.
ANC First Deputy Secretary General Nomvula Mokonyane thanked the delegation for their warm welcome and conveyed sincere regards from ANC President and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa to General Secretary To Lam and leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam .
First Deputy Secretary General Nomvula Mokonyane emphasized that the delegation's visit to Vietnam aims to implement the results of the high-level phone call between General Secretary To Lam and the President of the ANC and the President of South Africa, demonstrating the ANC's commitment to promoting cooperation between the two Parties and two countries, which is extremely important in the context of the great changes taking place in South Africa and the world.
Informing General Secretary To Lam about the good results of the talks with Standing Secretary of the Secretariat Tran Cam Tu on the morning of May 19, notably the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the ANC, Ms. Nomvula Mokonyane emphasized that the Memorandum of Understanding is not only of political significance but also requires substantive cooperation activities in the coming time.
The First Deputy Secretary General of the ANC looks forward to welcoming senior Vietnamese leaders to attend the G20 Political Parties Conference and the G20 Summit to be held in South Africa in November 2025.

General Secretary To Lam thanked Mr. Cyril Ramaphosa, President of the ANC and President of South Africa, for his good sentiments and invitation to Vietnamese leaders; expressed his belief that South Africa will successfully organize the G20 Summit and affirmed that Vietnam will send high-ranking leaders to attend this important event.
The General Secretary hopes to soon welcome ANC Chairman and South African President Ramaphosa to visit Vietnam, in order to continue strengthening political trust and bringing the relationship between the two Parties and countries to new heights.
The General Secretary welcomed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the two Parties and requested that the competent agencies of the two Parties have specific plans to implement the cooperation contents agreed upon in the Memorandum of Understanding.
The two leaders agreed to promote economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries, identifying this as an important pillar in bilateral cooperation, recognizing that there is still a lot of room for cooperation between the two sides in this field; at the same time, strengthen cooperation in the fields of defense - security and culture, and people-to-people exchange to increase connectivity and solidarity between the people of the two countries.
