Mobile digital library vehicle spreads reading culture to all people

The mobile digital library vehicle deployed by the Ho Chi Minh City General Library is playing an important role in connecting knowledge with the community, especially students in suburban and outlying areas, thereby contributing to promoting and spreading reading culture widely in the city.

Over the years, mobile digital library vehicles have become familiar companions of students and residents in many remote areas, bringing thousands of books and modern technology to readers.

No longer the silent bookshelves in traditional libraries, the mobile library model deployed by the Ho Chi Minh City General Science Library since 2007 has brought a new vitality to community reading activities. With a total of 8 specialized vehicles, this program has been serving a variety of subjects, from students, workers to the visually impaired, in residential areas, industrial parks, suburban areas, remote areas as well as at major cultural events.

The special feature of the mobile library lies in the flexible combination of traditional printed books and digital devices. The space inside the vehicle is designed neatly and scientifically, creating a friendly environment for readers - especially students. In addition to thousands of books of all genres - from children's comics, literature, science to skill books and reference materials - students also have the opportunity to use laptops to access the electronic library, look up learning materials and access digital content.

Not only reading books, this model also integrates technology exploration activities and STEM education , helping students get acquainted with modern learning methods. On the equipped laptops, students can look up documents, read e-books, and search for reference books directly related to the curriculum.

One of the big attractions is the free reading card service, allowing users to access the smart library system anytime, anywhere – a step forward to help eliminate geographical distance in accessing knowledge.

The images of children enthusiastically reading books, drawing pictures or participating in intellectual games next to the library van in a bustling festival setting are clear evidence of the vitality of this cultural model. Not only a means of bringing books to readers, the mobile digital library van is also contributing to creating a meaningful cultural space, inspiring a love of reading and learning in the community.
