The model of "Collecting scrap for trees, raising funds to support disadvantaged women and children" has spread widely among the women's associations at all levels of Khuong Dinh ward.

Creativity in the journey to keep the environment green

In order to promote the proactive role of women in environmental protection and fundraising to support the community, the anti-plastic waste movement has been effectively implemented by the Women's Union at all levels in the city. Through scrap collection models, the Union has achieved a dual goal: contributing to cleaning the environment while demonstrating the spirit of "helping each other", turning waste into a meaningful resource to serve the community.

One of the typical examples is the model of "Collecting scrap for trees, raising funds to support women and children in difficult circumstances" implemented by the Women's Union of Khuong Dinh Ward. After only a short time of implementation, the model has brought practical results, not only helping to reduce plastic waste and change the habit of sorting waste at the source of thousands of members and residents, but also contributing to building a green - clean - beautiful living space. Plastic bottles, cans or cardboard boxes that were thought to be worthless are now sorted and collected right at home, helping each house become "clean house - clean kitchen - clean alley".

“Before, I just threw everything into a trash bag. Now it’s different. Every time I sort, I think about how this scrap will be exchanged for trees to beautify the street or for money to help children. I suddenly feel more responsible, and my house is much cleaner,” said Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan, a member of the Women’s Union of Khuong Dinh Ward.

Ms. Hoang Thi Dung, President of the Women's Union of Khuong Dinh Ward, said: "The model has been implemented since 2022, organizing more than 100 collection sessions, raising nearly 200 million VND, sponsoring 10 orphans in difficult circumstances over the past 4 years. This work not only has material significance, but also shows timely concern and spiritual encouragement for families in difficult circumstances."

In Bat Bat commune, women have also established and maintained 35 anti-plastic waste groups with many practical models. Ms. Le Thi Tuyen, President of Bat Bat Commune Women's Union, shared: "We have organized 45 communication sessions, mobilizing women to go to the market with plastic baskets, turning waste into money. The model "Green house for collecting and recycling plastic waste" has received positive support from the people. The total amount collected has reached nearly 100 million VND to give gifts to difficult cases."

Not only stopping at fighting plastic waste, Bat Bat women are also pioneers in treating organic waste at the source. The model of classifying and treating organic waste at households has been replicated in 10 branches. The association organized 15 training classes, instructing 1,570 members on how to compost organic fertilizer - both keeping the house clean and saving money. Supported with IMO products and trash cans, all the women were excited to follow.

In Giang Vo ward, the model of "No-garbage - bright - green - clean - beautiful roads and streets" was deployed on Lang Ha and Giang Vo streets, attracting a large number of cadres, women's union members and people to participate. Activities of general cleaning, removing advertisements, and planting trees were carried out regularly. From the recycled waste source, the Association raised a fund for "Tomorrow for Children", supporting the raising and sponsorship of orphans and children in especially difficult circumstances, helping them have more books, scholarships and motivation to go to school.

Pioneer in economic development

Not only are women at the forefront of environmental protection and social security activities, they are also pioneers in economic development, technology application and preservation of national cultural identity. These efforts are associated with typical emulation movements such as “Building loyal, creative, capable and elegant women of the capital” and “Building Vietnamese women of the new era”.

In Boi Khe village (Chieu My commune) - a land famous for its traditional mother-of-pearl inlay and lacquer craft, the village Women's Association currently has 210 members out of 600 households, playing a core role in preserving and developing the craft village. Many members are typical production cores such as Ms. Nguyen Thi Binh, Dinh Thi Van, Lam Thi Lan... In particular, two female members of the Association have pioneered in participating in the Steering Committee for the establishment of the Craft Village Association, contributing to affirming the role of women in local economic development.

The Association also guaranteed 4.5 billion VND in loans from the Social Policy Bank for 47 households to develop production, create more jobs and increase income for people. At the same time, the Association encouraged production households not to encroach on the road, move spontaneous markets to concentrated areas, contributing to building a green - clean - beautiful craft village environment.

Ms. Vu Ngoc Yen, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of Chuyen My Commune, commented: "The Women's Union of Boi Khe village has clearly demonstrated dynamism, creativity and a high sense of responsibility. Not only is it a spiritual support for its members, the Union is also an effective bridge to help women access loans and raise awareness of protecting the craft village environment. In particular, the members are the pioneers in elevating the Boi Khe mother-of-pearl and lacquer brands to the international market."

In Trung Gia commune, the Women Entrepreneurs Club was established, affirming the pioneering role of women in economic development towards industry - services - ecological agriculture . Ms. Truong Thi Thanh Nhan, President of the Commune Women's Union, said: "The club operates under the motto "Solidarity - Cooperation - Development - Success", aiming to connect female entrepreneurs, improve management capacity, and expand the market. The Association also regularly organizes training courses on digital transformation and modern business operation skills, helping women keep up with the trend of the digital economy".

Similarly, in Phu Dong commune, the model of “Women Pioneering Digital Transformation Club” was born, responding to the movement of “Digital Education for the People”. The club plays a core role in guiding members and people to use online public services, make cashless payments, apply technology to production, business and study, contributing to forming modern living and working habits.

Not only focusing on economic development, the Women's Union at all levels of the Capital also focuses on improving the spiritual life and health of its members. In Viet Hung ward, the Women's Union of the ward launched the Folk Song Club at the Women's Union of Group 17B, contributing to preserving the beauty of national traditions and spreading the spirit of love for the homeland's culture. In Thuan An commune, the Folk Dance Club Festival program with the theme " Peaceful Dance" attracted a large number of cadres and members to participate. Ms. Bui Thi Loi, President of the Women's Union of Thuan An commune, shared: "This is truly an opportunity for women members to improve their spiritual life, strengthen solidarity, create a fun - healthy - useful playground, and at the same time contribute to effectively implementing the emulation movements of the Union organization".

The diverse models, each with its own unique characteristics of women in the capital, not only affirm the position and role of women in modern society but also vividly demonstrate their dynamism, creativity and sense of responsibility in all aspects of life.

From simple but meaningful actions - sorting garbage, preserving traditional culture, supporting economic development, improving technological knowledge - women in the capital are creating profound human values every day, contributing to building a rich and civilized capital.
