When equipped with knowledge, management skills and the ability to apply science and technology , farmers will become a key factor in the process of agricultural modernization. Therefore, building a team of professional and civilized farmers is the goal set in the current period.
Accompanying farmers
With the goal of building an ecological agriculture, modern countryside and civilized farmers, in the period of 2020-2025, the Farmers' Association of Dong Nai province has achieved many important results, affirming its role as a subject in building new rural areas, developing modern agriculture, international integration, and actively contributing to the overall achievements of the province.
The province currently has more than 192,200 farmer association members, operating at 95 association bases, nearly 1,700 branches and more than 7,900 farmer association groups. During the past term, the total outstanding loan balance from the Farmers Support Fund in the province reached more than 280.7 billion VND, forming hundreds of effective production and business models. Associations at all levels have coordinated with the Social Policy Bank and farmers associations of communes and wards to entrust more than 67,200 households, borrowing more than 3,500 billion VND through loan entrustment programs, contributing to supporting farmers to expand production and increase income.
In the coming time, Dong Nai Farmers' Union at all levels needs to focus on building a team of union officials with strong political will, capacity, qualities, prestige, and enthusiasm for the farmers' movement; strengthen training and fostering skills and knowledge of agricultural economic management, and apply digital transformation in production.
Comrade Huynh Thi Hang, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairwoman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Dong Nai province
The movement "Farmers compete in good production and business" is spreading more and more widely; the whole province currently has more than 86 thousand good production and business households at all levels, of which nearly 2 thousand households have reached the provincial level, dozens of households have reached the central level.
High-tech agricultural models are being widely replicated. The province has more than 580 models applying advanced science and technology, 82 effective agricultural cooperatives and many concentrated agricultural production areas linked to sustainable consumption chains.
In particular, in the New Rural Development Movement, Dong Nai continues to be the leading province in the Southeast region, among the top in the country. Most impressively, the average income per capita in rural areas reached about 78 million VND/year, an increase of more than 2.5 times compared to 2015. The poverty rate in rural areas decreased to less than 0.8%, and the material and spiritual life of the people was significantly improved.
At the recent scientific conference with the theme of Vietnamese farmers - from traditional to professional and smart, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Thanh Nam affirmed: Farmers are not only the direct production force but also the subject of the agricultural development process. To increase value, we must build the image of professional farmers, who know how to apply science and technology and closely link with businesses and cooperatives. There needs to be appropriate policy mechanisms to develop jobs for farmers, such as supporting vocational training linked to market demand and digital transformation in agriculture, combined with encouraging production linkages along the value chain, strengthening agricultural extension activities and improving rural infrastructure.
A solid support for farmers
At the recent meeting to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Union (October 14, 1930 - October 14, 2025) and summarize the typical advanced models of the Farmers' Union of Dong Nai province in the period of 2020-2025, Vice Chairman of the Farmers' Union of Dong Nai province Nguyen Van Giang launched the emulation movement for the period of 2025-2030 with the theme: "Cadres and members of the Farmers' Union continue to unite, be creative, apply digital transformation, develop collective economy, build smart new rural areas". Promoting the role of the Farmers' Association in the new period, the Associations at all levels continue to consolidate and build strong association organizations, which are a reliable support for members and farmers. In particular, the Associations at all levels continue to promote the Farmers' Emulation Movement for good production and business, creating a strong shift from small-scale production to cooperative economy, developing new-style cooperatives, cooperative groups, and agricultural value chains associated with stable consumption markets. Continue to pay attention to supporting, encouraging, and creating conditions for farmers to apply science and technology, borrow capital, convert crop and livestock structures, provide vocational training for rural workers, increase productivity, and improve the material and spiritual life of farmers. Do a good job of informing and forecasting agricultural product consumption markets to businesses, cooperatives, and producers.
