Lam Dong focuses on overcoming landslide incidents

Recently, Lam Dong province has experienced many prolonged heavy rains, causing damage to the traffic infrastructure system, especially the main traffic routes in the province.

Currently, only a few traffic routes into the administrative center of Lam Dong province are accessible, but they are very difficult and limit traffic to the maximum, causing estimated damage of tens of billions of dong.

Heavy damage after floods

When the roads are limited, the amount of agricultural products stagnant in the blue sea Lam Dong area, farmers suffer heavy losses. Not only that, due to the impact of prolonged heavy rain, many mountain passes connecting Da Lat with other localities, especially the coastal province of Khanh Hoa, also greatly affect tourism . In the downstream area of ​​​​hydropower plants, when the flood discharge is also greatly affected, travel and daily life of people. From November 16, 2025 to November 19, 2025, in many areas in Lam Dong province, there will be heavy rain, some places will have very heavy rain.

Rainfall measured from November 16, 2025 to 3:30 p.m. on November 17, 2025 at D'Ran Commune 208mm, Xuan Truong Ward - Da Lat 180mm, Xuan Huong Ward - Da Lat 127mm, Ka Do Commune 125mm, Duc Trong Commune 115mm, Don Duong Commune 124mm. From 1:00 p.m. on November 19, 2025 to 9:00 a.m. on November 20, 2025, rainfall measured at some stations such as Lac Duong 190mm, D'Ran 128mm, Xuan Huong - Da Lat 126mm, Xuan Truong - Da Lat 133mm, Don Duong 77mm, Ka Do 66mm.

Rain forecast from the afternoon and night of November 20, 2025 to November 21, 2025, some areas in the north of the province will continue to have rain, some places will have moderate rain, heavy rain. Rainfall is generally from 20 to 50mm, some places higher than 50mm.

On November 22, 2025, the northern, eastern to northeastern areas of the province, including Da Lat and Bao Loc areas. Don Duong, Lac Duong, Duc Trong, Di Linh, Lam Ha districts of Lam Dong province (before the merger) and coastal areas of Binh Thuan province (before the merger)), there will be rain, some places will have moderate to heavy rain. Total rainfall in the day is from 20 to 40mm/24 hours, some places will be higher than 40mm. Other areas will have some rain.

From November 22, 2025 to November 25, 2025, Lam Dong province will have scattered rain in some areas. The total rainfall will range from 10mm to 20mm, with some places being higher than 20mm. Due to the effects of prolonged heavy rain, many traffic routes in the province have experienced damage such as landslides, subsidence of foundations, road surfaces, and road breaks, affecting traffic in the province.

Major damage has occurred on some major traffic routes such as National Highway 28, National Highway 20 and Prenn Pass. Accordingly, National Highway 20 section Km226+650 ÷ Km226+750, Mimosa Pass, the entire roadbed and surface has collapsed towards the negative slope, causing the road to be broken, the length of the collapsed section is about 70m, 40m deep. National Highway 28 (Section Km47+250 ÷ Km54+00 Gia Bac Pass, section Km253+400 to Km253+500 Pass 52, section Km307+600 to Km307+700) many positions of negative slope and positive slope have collapsed, the roadbed and surface have sunk and cracked, some sections have sunk and cracked into 1/3 of the roadbed with a high risk of landslides causing the road to be broken.

Prenn Pass has 6 locations where the road surface has sunk and cracked with a total length of about 300m, the width of the cracks is from 1cm to 10cm. Of which, about 40m of the road has collapsed the embankment blocking the negative slope, 1/2 of the 7.5m wide roadbed has collapsed, the damage at this location shows signs of continuing to develop and there is a risk of landslides causing road breakage.

300 billion VND needed to quickly fix the problem

As soon as the damage occurred on the roads, the Provincial People's Committee organized an on-site inspection and directed the Provincial Civil Defense Command, departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of communes, wards and related units to organize the installation of warning signs, lane separation and traffic flow on the routes. Arranged forces on duty to ensure traffic safety 24/24.

At the same time, issue emergency situations on natural disasters and orders to build emergency works to promptly deploy repair and temporary repair work, ensuring traffic safety on the roads. However, this is only a temporary solution. After organizing an assessment of the current situation and planning repair and repair options, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee estimated the cost of repair and repair for the above damaged locations to be about 300 billion.

The damage to the above-mentioned routes is major damage caused by natural disasters, and repairing the damage to ensure long-term stability requires large resources. In the context of limited local resources, in order to promptly repair and overcome the damage on the main traffic routes, serving the travel needs of the people, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee has requested the Prime Minister to consider supporting a budget of about 300 billion VND for Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee to organize repairs and overcome according to regulations.
