
The Da Nhim - Ham Thuan - Da Mi Hydropower Company's water regulation at a flow rate of 2,580 m³/s caused the entire residential area and agricultural production area along the downstream of the Da Nhim River to be submerged in water. When the water receded at noon on November 20, people returned to a scene of devastation: houses were destroyed, gardens and vegetable fields were covered in mud or washed away by the flood.


According to Secretary of the D'Ran Commune Party Committee Nguyen Van Huu, a preliminary report showed that the flood on the night of November 19 and the morning of November 20, 2025, flooded and severely damaged 756 houses, collapsed 5 houses, and damaged about 1,320 hectares of vegetables; fortunately, there were no human casualties.


On the night of November 19, D'Ran Commune Police and the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police force of Lam Dong Provincial Police coordinated with local authorities to urgently evacuate households in flooded areas to safety.


Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, a resident of D'Ran commune, Lam Dong, was shocked to recount that his house and all of his family's belongings were swept away by the flood, leaving only the foundation. "The water rose so quickly that my neighbors and I only had time to hug each other and run. When we returned this afternoon, we only found the foundation of the house, everything else had been swept away, we don't know where," he said.

In Ka Do commune, Secretary of the Commune Party Committee Dinh Thi Mai said that preliminary statistics up to 1 p.m. the same day showed that about 200 hectares of crops were flooded, washed away and completely damaged; the most serious were the villages of Lac Son, Lac Thanh, Ka Do 2 and Tan Lap. In addition, about 5 hectares of greenhouses were flooded, 300 households had their houses flooded. Regarding traffic, floodwaters completely washed away a residential bridge, paralyzing roads in Tan Lap and Lac Son villages.



In Don Duong commune, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee Tran Hung Dung said that by 4 p.m. the same day, the entire commune estimated damage to more than 91 hectares of vegetables; a chicken farm with 16,000 chickens (worth about 3 billion VND) was flooded; 57 houses were flooded. In village 3, trees fell on medium-voltage power lines, many inter-village roads were partially flooded. The authorities have organized the evacuation of people to safety.

Mr. Pham Thanh Trung, Nghia Lap 2 village, Don Duong commune, shared: “It has been decades since this flood happened. Everything is gone, nothing is left. The whole row of houses was swept away, nothing can be kept.”
As one of 33 members of the Don Duong Commune Security and Order Protection Team, Mr. Do Dai Hoc said that since the night of November 19, he has been assigned by the Commune Police to be on duty and support people in deeply flooded areas. “We are tasked with protecting and guiding people. In heavily flooded areas, the force has used boats to transport goods and bring people's belongings to high places. Everything has been implemented very promptly; wherever problems arise, the police immediately deploy forces to the checkpoints to ensure safety and complete the task,” Mr. Hoc said.


Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi requested local authorities and functional forces to continue to focus on evacuating people from dangerous areas; urgently stabilize their lives, arrange safe temporary accommodation and ensure adequate provision of essential necessities such as food, drinking water, blankets, etc. Absolutely do not let people return to dangerous areas when conditions are not yet safe. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also requested localities to proactively plan emergency support and promptly make full statistics of the damage to deploy timely remedial solutions.
