On September 20, Gaia Nature Conservation Center coordinated with Procter & Gamble Vietnam and Central Retail Vietnam to organize "Forest Planting Day" to plant 1,000 new trees at Ta Kou Nature Reserve (Tan Thanh commune, Lam Dong province), contributing to the restoration and protection of green areas for Vietnam.
Accordingly, more than 160 volunteers directly dug the soil and planted trees. This is the third consecutive year that the "Forest Planting Festival" has been held. On this occasion, each participant has a real-life experience, connecting with nature and each small action brings great meaning, strengthening the bond between colleagues.
Ta Kou Nature Reserve is recognized as one of the 221 most important ecological regions in the world , where diverse ecosystems are preserved but are currently facing coastal sand erosion. Planting forests here not only helps stabilize sandy soils, regenerate nutrient-poor soils, but also creates conditions for sustainable development of flora and fauna.
The new forests also contribute to protecting water resources, limiting the risk of desertification, sandstorms, drought, and supporting people's livelihoods through agriculture and ecotourism.
Mr. Olivier Langlet, General Director of Central Retail Vietnam Group said: Launched in 2023, the Forests for Good program, accompanied by Central Retail Vietnam and Procter & Gamble Vietnam, has contributed to the national goal of forest restoration and biodiversity conservation. From the first forest trees planted in Xuan Lien National Park (Thanh Hoa province), the program has quickly expanded to many provinces and cities.
To date, Forests for Good has planted more than 35,000 trees in areas of high ecological value such as Thanh Hoa, Dong Nai, Ca Mau, Can Tho City and Lam Dong. This is an important milestone, demonstrating Central Retail Vietnam's commitment to join hands in implementing the national goal of forest restoration , biodiversity protection and supporting local communities.
