Up to now, Shanti Pereira is the Singaporean athlete with the best results at ASIAD 19.
“It’s unbelievable. I never thought I would be here and make history for Singapore athletics. Before the competition, I just thought I would try my best to compete and give my best.
I went through a difficult period when I was constantly injured and there were times when I wanted to stop. I am happy that I tried hard and achieved the miracle I have now. My feelings at this time are hard to describe, but it is definitely joy," Shanti Pereira shared.
At the 18th ASIAD held in Indonesia, Shanti Pereira could not even reach the final of the women's 200m event.
However, the 27-year-old runner's training efforts have brought sweet results at the 19th ASIAD.
