For the first time, Ho Chi Minh City organizes an underground sale hunting festival.

From August 28 to September 7, Ben Thanh metro station will turn into an "underground shopping paradise" with more than 500 brands discounted up to 80%, this is also a new highlight of the Shopping Season 2025 program.

On August 21, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade held a press conference to announce the plan to implement Shopping Season 2025 along with the quality control cooperation program "Responsible Green Tick".

"Shopping street" under the metro station

Speaking at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Minh Hung, Deputy Head of the Trade Management Department of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, said that total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the first seven months of the year reached VND1.07 trillion, up 15.5% over the same period. This is the highest level in many years. However, to complete the 18% growth target assigned by the Central Government, the city needs stronger stimulus measures.

According to Mr. Hung, the focus of the Shopping Season 2025 stimulus program is City Sale 2025. The event brings together more than 500 domestic and foreign brands, applying deep discounts of up to 80% on many product categories, from fashion , cosmetics to household appliances.

Following the success of phase one at Parc Mall, City Sale continues to expand to four locations: Vincom Mega Mall Thao Dien, Diamond Plaza, SC VivoCity and especially Ben Thanh station on metro line 1.

"For the first time, Ho Chi Minh City has brought shopping activities to the metro space, forming a "shopping route" directly connected to major commercial centers.

This not only enhances the experience for residents and tourists, but also connects commercial activities with modern transport infrastructure. We expect this model to help increase the number of visitors and shoppers by 30-50%," said Mr. Hung.

In addition to promotional activities, the Department of Industry and Trade also coordinates to organize mobile sales trips to serve workers and laborers at preferential prices. At the same time, it implements the "Responsible Green Tick" program to help consumers feel secure when shopping, combined with increased market inspection and control to prevent counterfeit, fake and poor quality goods.

At the same time, communication work is promoted with the support of social networks and hundreds of KOLs, KOCs and artists, creating a widespread ripple effect in the community.

Banks join in, double the incentives

In addition to the underground shopping model, Mr. Nguyen Nguyen Phuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the new point of this year's City Sale is the participation of two major banks, HDBank and Vikki Bank, for the first time. These banks will launch a series of attractive incentives such as giving vouchers and refunding 10-20% for customers who open new cards or pay by card.

"The participation of the banking sector not only enhances the value of the program but also promotes cashless payments, one of the major goals of the city and the Government ," said Mr. Phuong.

He also affirmed that City Sale does not stop at branded goods discounts, but aims to combine trade with tourism, gradually forming modern outlet centers, contributing to making Ho Chi Minh City a civilized and classy shopping destination in the region.

In the long term, according to Mr. Phuong, the Department of Industry and Trade aims to expand City Sale to the entire distribution system, turning the program into an annual "shopping season" with a scale competitive enough with shopping paradises in the Asian region.
