Hemorrhoids rejuvenation
At the scientific conference on advances in the treatment of anorectal diseases combining modern medicine and traditional medicine held on October 11 in Thanh Hoa, Mr. Le Manh Cuong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine, Chairman of the Vietnam Anorectal Association, said that in recent years, the number of young people suffering from hemorrhoids has increased significantly.
One of the causes warned by doctors is the bad habit of using the phone or iPad while going to the toilet, prolonging the time sitting in the toilet.
According to Dr. Cuong, hemorrhoids used to be common in people over 35 years old. But now, many patients are only 15-16 years old, even 10 years old have hemorrhoids.
"A sedentary lifestyle, low fiber diet, low water intake, frequent use of fast food and especially overuse of electronic devices are factors that increase the risk of hemorrhoids.
In fact, many patients suffer from hemorrhoids due to prolonged constipation, losing the reflex to defecate just because they are busy playing games, watching their phones or "trying to hold" to go to the toilet. Many people also have the habit of watching their phones or iPads while sitting in the toilet, causing the time to defecate to be prolonged.
Sitting too long watching the phone will cause loss of concentration, affect the reflex of pushing waste through the anus, create pressure on the rectal wall, and increase the risk of hemorrhoids forming," Dr. Cuong analyzed.
Experts also recommend that to prevent hemorrhoids, everyone should maintain the habit of eating a lot of fiber, drinking enough water, exercising regularly, going to the toilet on time and especially giving up the habit of sitting in the toilet scrolling through the phone. Just a small habit but can help you avoid this annoying disease.
Do not abuse hemorrhoidectomy surgery
According to Dr. Cuong, under normal conditions, hemorrhoids have the task of helping to close the anus. When infected, hemorrhoids prolapse, the patient needs to be treated, but the priority is internal medicine, preserving and shrinking hemorrhoids instead of immediate surgery.
However, in reality, hemorrhoidectomy is often performed, partly due to its quick effectiveness. However, this method is often expensive, while surgery is not always required.
"Only when the disease is severe and does not respond to medical treatment or other procedures is hemorrhoidectomy surgery needed. In addition to surgery, there are many effective treatment methods such as medication, hemorrhoid sclerotherapy, etc.
The choice of treatment method must be based on the stage of the disease, the patient's health condition and the expertise of the treating physician," said Dr. Cuong.
Besides, according to him, traditional medicine also plays an important role in treating hemorrhoids, helping to reduce inflammation, support hemorrhoid shrinkage and limit recurrence.
Nowadays, traditional medicine combined with modern medicine is increasingly meeting the needs of hemorrhoid treatment with many scientific studies, bringing high treatment efficiency and reasonable costs for patients.
