The conference attracted the attention of many professionals, with many reports of high practical value, reflecting the modernization trend in diagnosis and treatment of related diseases.
Speakers from leading hospitals and digestive surgery centers nationwide and several foreign experts shared the latest results on laser applications, vascular ablation techniques and tissue-preserving surgery, aiming to reduce pain, shorten recovery time and improve the quality of life for patients.
Associate Professor, Doctor Le Manh Cuong, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Academy of Traditional Medicine, Director of Tue Tinh Hospital, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Colorectal Surgery, said that recently, many scientific research projects on the field of anorectal surgery have been successfully carried out by scientists, surgeons, and doctors at domestic hospitals; in addition, many good experiences in diagnosis and treatment have been drawn.
Therefore, reporting and sharing the results and experiences with colleagues is very necessary. Thereby, helping members improve their qualifications, professional capacity, as well as scientific research capacity in the field of proctology to care, examine, and treat patients well and contribute to the development of Vietnamese medicine.
However, in addition to the good results, in practice there are still errors in diagnosis and treatment; there are also accidents, complications, and post-treatment sequelae that affect the health and quality of life of patients. This reality raises the question of how to limit errors and complications, which has been discussed in detail by managers, professional agencies, and physicians.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Manh Cuong shared that anorectal diseases such as hemorrhoids, constipation, etc. are increasingly common, accounting for 20 to 30% of all digestive diseases. Worryingly, people with the disease are tending to get younger quickly. If in the past, people usually got the disease after 35 years old, now there are cases of people over 10 years old.
The main causes are irregular eating habits, eating fast, using a lot of spicy foods, lack of exercise, "hugging the phone in the toilet"... Bad habits or self-treatment according to "internet advice" can lead to loss of defecation reflex, causing necrosis, infection of the anal canal, and even requiring surgery. For example, hemorrhoids are not too complicated, but if treated incorrectly, they can have serious consequences.
Nowadays, many hospitals have combined modern medicine and traditional medicine to treat hemorrhoids and anorectal diseases, helping to reduce pain and limit recurrence with quite good results. After surgery, patients can use oriental medicine to support recovery and avoid complications.

Professor, Dr. Trinh Thi Dieu Thuong, Deputy Director of the Department of Traditional Medicine Management ( Ministry of Health ) said that up to now, the traditional medicine examination and treatment system has been built from the central to local levels and the combination of traditional medicine with modern medicine has also had many results in medical examination and treatment, training and scientific research.
Notably, the attention of the Party, State and Government to traditional medicine and the combination of traditional medicine with modern medicine is increasing through specific Resolutions and policies. Therefore, this is an opportunity to strongly promote the combination of traditional medicine with modern medicine in people's health care. New methods and protocols need to be updated regularly. In addition, physicians also need to promote research and application because medicine and evidence-based medicine are increasingly important.
