Spreading the program "Rural lighting" in Nam Nhun

(BLC) - Implementing the program "Rural lighting" deployed by the Standing Committee of Nam Nhun District Party Committee, after more than 5 months, the program has had a wide spread with 64/69 villages in the whole district having electricity, a total of 1,210 light bulbs installed, exceeding the schedule compared to the plan.

Since October 2022, the Standing Committee of Nam Nhun District Party Committee has directly directed relevant agencies and units to inform, propagate, and review the current situation in the entire district when implementing the "Rural Lighting" Program in many diverse and practical forms. The program facilitates people's travel and protects security and order in the area, creating beauty and civilization in people's daily lives.

At the beginning, the district chose to install a pilot program in Nam O village (Nam Ban commune) with a total of 40 bulbs. Because according to the district's point of view, this is one of the most difficult villages in the commune. Immediately after the success in Nam O village, the program quickly spread to other communes and villages, receiving the support of the people.

Being present at Muong Mo village (Muong Mo commune) in late May, we saw that the rural appearance of the village was increasingly changing, the road to the village was concreted, trees were planted on both sides of the road, security and order were ensured and especially the spiritual life of the people was significantly improved when Nam Nhun District Youth Union coordinated with Viettel Lai Chau Branch to install lighting lines for the people. Many community activities were carried out at the foot of the lighting poles such as: organizing cultural and sports exchanges, sharing knowledge on economic development among households... security and order in the village were also ensured more than before.

Mr. Ho Van Ninh in Muong Mo village (Muong Mo commune) said: Before there was no electricity, after each working day, people often went to bed early, exchanging knowledge about economic development or other activities was almost non-existent. Since the solar power poles were installed, people have been very excited. Under the electric lights, we exchange and learn from each other to progress together, the security situation is more secure.

After more than 5 months of implementing the "Rural Lighting" Program, it has received consensus, support and implementation from the Party Committee, the government and the people of all ethnic groups in the area. In particular, the youth union members in the communes and villages are the core. Up to now, in the district, a total of 64/69 villages have had lighting systems with a total of 1,210 light bulbs including regular light bulbs and solar light bulbs. The bulb capacity ranges from 200W to 1,000W, with a total cost of over 2 billion VND. The highlight of the program is that 100% of the funding is contributed by the people themselves, partly mobilized from the staff, workers, civil servants and companies and enterprises located in the area to support. For a district with difficulties like Nam Nhun, the above figure is indeed a remarkable achievement.

Comrade Lu Van Quan - Standing Deputy Secretary of Nam Nhun District Party Committee said: In the coming time, we will continue to direct the District Youth Union to coordinate with the Party Committees and authorities of communes and towns to implement the project in villages without rural lighting. Install in villages after completing resettlement arrangements; install additional projects in areas where previously installed but quality is not guaranteed.

Coordinate with equipment suppliers to hand over and develop plans for management, use, maintenance and repair of works for areas that have been put into use. The program also shows that with policies that are popular with the people, people enthusiastically participate and are willing to contribute funds to implement, thereby exceeding targets.

Nam Nhun is a district that still faces many socio-economic difficulties. Mobilizing people to respond to the "Rural Lighting" Program is a difficult problem. Through many practical methods, the main roads in the villages have been lit by street lights, contributing to creating favorable conditions for travel and daily activities of households in the area, limiting traffic accidents, and preventing social evils.

This is also a meaningful project to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of Nam Nhun district; contributing to the successful implementation of the policy of building new rural areas, improving people's lives and reducing social evils and bad customs in the area.
