Sunflower Team with the Sunflower Fresh Water project - champion of the 14th Foreign Economic Talent Competition
Over the years, startups and innovation have been growing strongly in many student communities across the country.
Course "Entrepreneurial skills"
At the College of Foreign Economic Relations (COFER), entrepreneurship has become a part of a systematic and consistent vocational training strategy. The school has implemented the main course "Entrepreneurial Skills" and at the same time built a series of synchronous activities, from student fairs, idea feedback, to mentoring programs and financial support from the internal Entrepreneurship Fund.
Outstanding projects will be "incubated" on campus and "competed" at many national playgrounds such as Startup Kite, CiC, NTTU Start-up Open Day, contributing to affirming the competitiveness of vocational education students.
A typical example is the Sunflower project - fresh flower water produced in a natural, environmentally friendly way, which won the championship of the 14th "Foreign Economic Talent" contest. The project has so far built a small-scale production model at the school and developed a direct sales channel to households and fresh flower shops in Ho Chi Minh City.
Or BTCOCO - a series of products made from coconut shells such as cups, spoons, forks, and decorations - exploits cheap raw materials, inspires green living, and attracts the attention of handmade gift shops.
In particular, Soffee Tree - a beverage brand of international business students - did not stop at the idea, but has been tested at the school fair, has real revenue and is planned to expand into a small chain with an internal franchise model.
Dr. Le Ngoc Trung - the school's principal - said that each year the school spends about 100 million VND to support start-up ideas of students in the school. In addition, the school also supports connecting potential projects with suitable investors and investment funds. The common point of the projects is that they all come from real needs, solving specific problems in life.
Practical application of technology in teaching
Similarly, Far East College also promotes student start-up support and considers it an intrinsic need of training and school management activities. One of the most prominent projects today is the application of augmented reality (AR) technology in teaching anatomy and physiology at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy - Aesthetics.
Specifically, the group of lecturers and students developed a 3D simulation platform for the human body, allowing students to observe the structure of bones, muscles, and internal organs in high detail, while simulating physiological activities such as muscle contraction, blood circulation, respiration, digestion... in an intuitive, vivid and interactive way right on personal devices.
The special feature is that this model also integrates test questions and virtual clinical simulations, supporting students to not only "watch" but also "practice" on virtual models. The AR application not only improves the quality of teaching but also opens up an effective distance learning direction, any student can access the lesson content as if they were directly in the practice room.
Not stopping there, Vien Dong College also developed the integrated management application Vien Dong Edu, which helps automate many administrative and academic processes, from class management, grading to document distribution. This application has been successfully transferred to Long An College and Lam Dong Medical College.
Previously, the Defimaps project, a smart positioning application, also won second prize in the 2022 National Startup Competition for Far East students.

Festival of innovative aspirations
From April 18 to 20, 2025, the National Startup Festival for students will take place at Ho Chi Minh City University of Technical Education. With the goal of promoting the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurship among young people, the festival is a playground for creative ideas, while creating a space for connection between students - schools - businesses - investors.
Activities such as admissions counseling, career guidance, seminars, and startup product displays are held simultaneously. In particular, the conference summarizing the project "Supporting students to start businesses until 2025" will evaluate the past journey and propose policy directions for the next phase.
The highlight of the event was the final round of the "Students with Startup Ideas" contest and Startup Kite 2025, which gathered the best projects from educational institutions across the country.
Here, the competing groups will present before a panel of experts, receive feedback from investors, and have the opportunity to receive development support, advice, market connections, or capital calls. Projects with high applicability, related to technology, agriculture, healthcare, digital transformation, etc. will be especially highly appreciated.
