According to Lao Dong reporter's report on January 7, 2024, many gardeners in Tay Tuu flower village are currently busy taking care of plants, cutting leaves, and trimming buds to prepare for the 2024 Lunar New Year.
Mr. Nguyen Anh (owner of a garden in Tay Tuu village, Bac Tu Liem district) shared that the beauty of flowers depends largely on the weather. According to Mr. Anh, the weather this year is not favorable, warmer than usual, there are days when it rains heavily, causing the outer layer of newspaper to peel off, making the rose gardens here lose their shape and easily crushed.
"On normal days, a red rose costs about 2,000 - 5,000 VND, during Tet it can be sold for 10,000 - 20,000 VND/flower. This year the weather is not favorable so my flower garden blooms early, maybe by Tet there will be no more flowers to sell" - Mr. Anh worried.
Similarly, Ms. Chu Thi Huong (owner of a flower garden in Tay Tuu) said that this year, her family planted 3 sao of chrysanthemums because these flower buds are often easier to grow and cheaper than other types of flowers.
Chrysanthemums grown here usually take about 4-6 months to grow from seed to harvest. The flower beds that bloom early will be harvested first by the people, the price ranges from 100,000 - 120,000 VND/50 flowers.
Besides chrysanthemums, according to Ms. Huong, many other flower varieties are taken care of by garden owners in Tay Tuu flower village to serve the Lunar New Year such as roses, lilies, dahlias, etc.
However, many people here say that this year's weather is not favorable, the long warm spell has made it difficult to supply flowers in time for Tet.
Garden owners in Tay Tuu flower village are currently having to prune the buds that do not meet the requirements on the trees, leaving only large buds for the trees to grow, the main flowers to bloom more beautifully and bigger.
