Breakthrough from transport infrastructure

The Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term identifies one of the province's strategic breakthroughs in the current period as investing in the construction of synchronous and effective infrastructure, prioritizing the development of transport infrastructure. To concretize the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, in recent times, the province has prioritized all resources to invest in a relatively synchronous, modern, and highly connected transport system, contributing to the good exploitation of potentials and strengths.

With the orientation of strong development in transportation, since the beginning of the term, the province has been focusing on investing in completing a series of key transportation projects, inter-regional transportation projects connecting provinces and cities in the Mekong Delta, Ho Chi Minh City and the Southeast provinces to form a transportation infrastructure system connecting smoothly between localities, promoting regional connectivity, clearing bottlenecks in the transportation system, logistics, ... creating a solid foundation for the socio -economic development of the province. In particular, the province identified 8 key projects to implement the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress, including Tan An City Ring Road, Provincial Road (DT) 830E, DT827E, Tan Nam International Border Gate, regional connecting road N8-787B-789, Truong Chinh Street from DT781 to 30/4 Street, Cach Mang Thang Tam Street renovation project and compensation and resettlement support project for Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway, section passing through Tay Ninh province.

After a period of implementation, up to now, many projects have been completed and put into use, opening up new spaces for socio-economic development of the province. In particular, the project to complete the Tan An City Ring Road was completed and opened to traffic at the end of December 2023, with the starting point intersecting with National Highway 62 at My Phu intersection, the ending point intersecting with National Highway 1 - DT833, with a length of nearly 23km and is promoting positive effects, not only contributing to reducing traffic pressure on National Highway 1 and inner-city roads but also creating an important corridor for regional economic development.

Provincial Road 830E is being focused on completion, ensuring it will be put into operation in 2026.

Regarding the DT830E project, despite facing many difficulties related to site clearance, up to now, the units are rushing to construct 4 packages with progress reaching 37-56% to strive to put the route into operation in 2026. This route is expected to connect the DT routes with the Ring Road 3 and Ring Road 4 axes of Ho Chi Minh City, connecting industrial parks and clusters in the area from Duc Hoa, Ben Luc, Can Duoc, Can Giuoc to Long An International Port and opening up space for urban infrastructure and logistics development.

In addition, key projects such as DT827E, Tan Nam International Border Gate, N8 787B-789 regional connecting roads, etc. are also being implemented to ensure progress. In particular, Tan Nam International Border Gate has been completed to proceed with the inauguration and put into use to serve trade activities between Vietnam and Cambodia.

Along with key projects, the province also focuses on effectively implementing the Breakthrough Program to mobilize all resources to build a synchronous transport infrastructure system to serve industrial and urban development in key economic zones with 8 projects. Of which, the project to upgrade and expand DT824 from Tua Mot to Canal Ranh bridge and the Hung Vuong - National Highway 62 intersection project have been completed and put into use, the Luong Hoa - Binh Chanh road project is under construction to ensure progress.

Perfecting the transportation system creates momentum for economic development

According to information from the Long An Construction Investment Project Management Board, in addition to key traffic projects, the province is also actively implementing projects belonging to inter-regional and key national traffic works such as Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 and Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 passing through the province.

Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 plays a role in regional connectivity, forming a synchronous and smooth traffic network between the Southeast Region and the Mekong Delta Region, creating momentum for the province in socio-economic development.

According to the Director of Long An Construction Investment Project Management Board Nguyen Van Hung, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 section passing through the province is more than 6.8km long, including 2 component projects with 3 construction packages, with a total investment of more than 4,100 billion VND. After more than 2 years of construction, up to now, the average progress of the 3 packages has reached nearly 80% of the value, ensuring the completion of the expressway section in October 2025 and the completion of the entire project in 2026.

In addition, immediately after the National Assembly passed the Resolution on the investment policy of Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4, the province focused on preparing the necessary procedures to implement as soon as the Government issued the Resolution. In particular, the province has identified 7 resettlement areas with a total area of nearly 75 hectares, planning to arrange about 3,371 lots, to solve the housing needs of households affected by the project's site clearance. Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 4 project has a total length of nearly 160km, passing through Dong Nai, Tay Ninh and Ho Chi Minh City provinces with a total investment of more than 120,400 billion VND.

The section passing through the province alone is about 78.3km long, including the section passing through Ho Chi Minh City of 3.8km with the scale of the completed phase reaching 8 expressway lanes, the scale of phase 1 is 4 complete expressway lanes. Together with Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3, Ring Road 4 will be a very important project for the province, playing the role of regional connectivity, forming a synchronous and smooth traffic network between the Southeast region and the Mekong Delta region, promoting investment efficiency for existing provincial projects and opening up new development space and driving force for the province.

Director of Long An Construction Investment Project Management Board Nguyen Van Hung affirmed: "The key and breakthrough traffic projects, when completed, will create an increasingly synchronous and modern traffic infrastructure system of the province, with convenient and smooth connections within the province and inter-regions, creating a driving force to promote the socio-economic development of the province, contributing to realizing the goal of becoming a new growth pole, an international trade gateway of the Southeast region and the whole country"./.
