Data from the General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ) shows that the average CPI in the first 9 months of 2025 nationwide increased by 3.27% over the same period last year, core inflation increased by 3.19%. In September alone, compared to December 2024, CPI increased by 2.61% and over the same period last year increased by 3.38%; core inflation increased by 0.2% over the previous month and increased by 3.18% over the same period last year.

Of the 11 main consumer goods and services groups, 10 groups increased in price, while the culture, entertainment and tourism group saw a decrease in price. Of these, the education group increased the most with 2.22%.

The main reason is that the prices of food, electricity, medical services, and education services are factors that increase the CPI but are excluded from the list of goods used to calculate core inflation.

In the past 9 months, the world commodity market has had many fluctuations due to the influence of political, economic and social factors of countries. In addition, the education services of non-public schools, the increase in food prices and housing maintenance materials are also the main reasons for the increase in CPI in September 2025.

According to the General Statistics Office, the global economy is increasingly unpredictable as it continues to face many unpredictable risks, especially US tariff tensions and trade protectionism, along with the responses of other countries.

Many countries continue to maintain tight monetary policies, weak aggregate demand causes global economic growth to slow down. Inflation tends to decrease but central banks continue to monitor and adjust monetary policies to ensure growth in 2025.

Along with that, the Government has paid special attention to administrative reform with many measures to simplify procedures, arrange and adjust administrative boundaries to streamline the apparatus, improve management efficiency, and create an open environment for production and business.

In addition, the Government continues to resolutely direct ministries, branches and localities to synchronously deploy price management solutions, ensure balance between supply and demand of goods, control inflation, and maintain economic recovery momentum.

According to the forecast of the General Statistics Office, in October, the CPI of food and eating out groups is likely to increase due to the impact of recent storms. In particular, green vegetables, seafood and processed foods may increase significantly compared to September. This may affect the overall inflation.
