The Department of Science and Technology has closely coordinated with the Department of Industry and Trade, the Provincial Police, and the Market Management Department to strengthen inspection, supervision, and handling of violations of intellectual property rights, especially focusing on trademarks, OCOP products, geographical indications, and handling of counterfeit and fake goods.
OCOP products of Lao Cai province are highly appreciated at domestic and international trade fairs.
In the period of 2022 - 2025, the province has guided nearly 50 enterprises and cooperatives to carry out procedures for registering and renewing trademarks. Typical protected products include: "Tra Co Thu Ta Cu Ty" tea, ChaPa wine, Thanh Xuan honey, Dai Bi essential oil and hotel services such as Bing Sapa Hotel, Fancy Sa Pa Hotel, and many other agricultural products.
In addition, the authorities also regularly update and guide the procedures for registration, protection and exploitation of intellectual property rights in the agricultural sector, from new plant varieties to advanced production technology and mechanized machinery.

OCOP products of Lao Cai province are highly appreciated at domestic and international trade fairs.
From 2022 to June 2025, the province handled 284 cases of intellectual property infringement, with a total fine of more than VND 3.18 billion.
The infringing goods are mainly clothes, shoes, cosmetics, motorbike spare parts, and phones with counterfeit trademarks.

The work of receiving and handling complaints and denunciations about intellectual property rights is carried out in accordance with the law. Violations such as unauthorized use of protected trademarks, copying of industrial designs, and software copyright infringement are detected and handled promptly.
