Lao Cai initial damage due to storm No. 5 is more than 5.5 billion VND

Due to the influence of storm No. 5, in Lao Cai from the night of August 25 to noon of August 26, it rained continuously, with rainfall in many places such as Khau Pha being 229mm, Ta Si Lang 229.6mm, Suoi Giang 126.4mm... River and stream water levels rose, causing flash floods in many places.

Flash floods occurred at Khau Pha Pass.

According to a quick report from the communes, as of 12 noon on August 26, one person was injured in Khanh Yen commune and was treated at Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital.

708 houses had their roofs blown off, two houses collapsed completely, and some houses were buried by rocks and soil on the slope. To ensure safety, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue of Phong Du Thuong commune evacuated 140 houses from areas at risk of flash floods.

Floods in Tu Le commune made it impossible for any vehicle to pass through.

More than 21 hectares of rice, crops and forestry trees were broken and flooded; 7 electric poles were broken, causing local power outages. Many people's properties were crushed by trees and swept away by floods, but the total damage has not been counted. The initial damage is estimated at about 5.5 billion VND.

The road management unit urgently overcame the consequences of the landslide to ensure traffic on National Highway 32.

Currently, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue from the province to the commune has been on duty 24/7, sending officers to visit affected families, and mobilizing local forces to help re-roof houses, so that no family goes hungry.
