National defense and military work has always been identified as an important and regular task of the Party Committee and the Government, aiming to build a strong national defense and firmly protect the Fatherland in the new situation. Currently, the armed forces of Lao Cai province have been deploying quickly, synchronously, effectively, and focusing on completing all tasks well.

As a mountainous and border province in the northwest of the country, Lao Cai has a particularly important strategic position in terms of national defense, security and foreign affairs. With a border of nearly 182km, the terrain is strongly divided by the Hoang Lien Son range, and the socio -economic situation is still difficult, especially for ethnic minority and border areas.

Faced with that reality, the armed forces of Lao Cai province have promoted their core role, proactively coordinated, advised, directed and together with the Party Committee, government and people in the province implemented local defense and military work with scientific and appropriate solutions and achieved many important results.

Notably, the work of advising and directing the implementation of local defense and military tasks was carried out seriously and closely, mobilizing the participation of the entire political system.

Thanks to the attention paid to mass mobilization work in the new situation, a model of "Sustainable Poverty Reduction" has emerged in Mu Cang Chai commune, helping 20 households escape poverty with a support budget of 68 million VND. Through a survey of specific needs, households were supported with livelihoods, gradually stabilizing their lives.

The model of "Adopted Children of Border Guard Station" deployed by Lao Cai International Border Guard Station has become a solid support for children in difficult circumstances in the area. From the contributions of officers and soldiers, each child is supported with 3 million VND/month to cover living and studying expenses. In addition, officers in the unit also directly tutor and coordinate with families and schools to care for the children's studies. Thanks to that, many children have achieved good and excellent academic results and good training.

The "4 together" model (eating together, living together, working together, speaking the ethnic language together) is maintained in resettlement areas in difficult areas, strengthening military-civilian solidarity, arousing the spirit of attachment and unanimity.

Mass mobilization work not only focuses on overcoming the consequences of natural disasters but is also closely linked to the movement to build new rural areas, protect border sovereignty and maintain security and order. In many highland communes, soldiers have joined the government and people to open roads, build bridges, and solidify canals, contributing to changing the face of the countryside.

Colonel Dang Quoc Dong, Commander of the Lao Cai Provincial Military Command, said that in the coming time, he will focus on advising on state management of national defense; promoting the building of all-people national defense, all-people national defense posture associated with people's security posture, especially the strong "people's hearts posture" in the area. Focus on developing economic sectors with strengths, increase investment in building transport infrastructure, dual-use projects to serve socio-economic development, while ensuring national defense and security tasks. Mobilize resources to deploy the construction of defense works, combat works, training grounds, border militia posts, working headquarters of commune-level military commands; combat bases, rear bases... ready to meet the requirements of construction and defensive operations.

The Provincial Military Command continues to promote the role of the Standing Agency of the National Defense and Security Education Council, closely coordinating with departments, agencies and branches to advise the province on directing the consolidation, improvement and improvement of the effectiveness of the National Defense and Security Education Council at all levels, especially the commune-level council after the merger. Continue to direct agencies and units to review and classify subjects that need to be trained in national defense and security knowledge after the Party Congresses at all levels, thereby developing a plan for implementation according to decentralization, focusing on expanded and specific subjects, ensuring quality and effectiveness.

Building a strong armed force, acting as the core in performing local defense and military tasks. In the direction of "refined, compact, strong", prioritizing ensuring the number of troops for combat-ready forces and units in key areas and borders; at the same time, improving the effectiveness and efficiency in advising, coordinating, guiding and organizing the implementation of local defense and military work.

Focus on building a strong, high-quality reserve force that is registered, managed, arranged, and staffed with proper military professionalism, in a compact area, and ready to be mobilized to perform tasks when ordered.

Along with that, the provincial armed forces units strictly maintain discipline and combat readiness; proactively build, perfect and strengthen training according to determination, combat plans for defense areas, plans to respond to and overcome the consequences of natural disasters, and rescue.

At the same time, closely coordinate and cooperate with the police and border guards to be ready to effectively handle defense and security situations, and not be surprised.
