Malaysian naturalized players can sue FAM. |
Balbeer Singh, president of the Sports Law Society of Malaysia (SLAM), said the players have every right to appeal based on the loss of income for a year. "The final decision is still with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). After that, they can consider taking legal action against FAM," he said.
Previously, in the written judgment of FIFA, some details seemed to give the impression that the naturalized stars were too calm about the incident. However, according to Balbeer Singh, the players were also concluded to have not carefully considered the contracts they signed, meaning that they did not pay due attention to the relevant legal procedures.
"That will become important evidence if the players bring the case to litigation. It is also possible that they will not sue FAM," Mr. Singh said, emphasizing the need for dialogue between FAM and the players to find a reasonable solution, avoiding prolonged legal disputes and damage to both sides.
Currently, 7 players involved have been suspended by FIFA for 1 year. The incident is still attracting great attention from the Malaysian and international football world.
