A few days ago, the President of the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI), Erick Thohir, suddenly announced that the U22 Indonesia team only set the goal of winning the Silver Medal (HCB) at the 33rd SEA Games. Notably, the team from the archipelago was the champion at the most recent SEA Games in 2023.

However, contrary to the “modest” goal of Mr. Erick Thohir, U22 Indonesia is preparing a strong force. Head of the Indonesian football delegation, Sumardji, confirmed that negotiations have been completed with 4 European clubs to bring Mauro Zijlstra (FC Volendam, Netherlands), Ivar Jenner (FC Utrecht, Netherlands), Dion Markx (TOP Oss, Netherlands) and Marselino Ferdinan (AS Trencin, Slovakia) to compete in the 33rd SEA Games.
In recent friendly matches, U22 Indonesia also used many naturalized players who are playing domestically such as Rafael Struick, Jens Raven. Not to mention a series of national players such as Dony Tri Pamungkas, Muhammad Ferarri, Kadek Arel, Toni Firmansyah or Hokky Caraka...
They are also waiting for the consent of their home clubs to call up two other players from abroad, Adrian Wibowo (LAFC, USA) and Tim Geypens (Emmen, Netherlands) to complete the squad before the SEA Games.

If these two players participate, this will be the best force that U22 Indonesia can summon. According to the plan, coach Indra Sjafri will announce the official list of 23 players this week, before moving to Thailand on November 30.
According to the initial draw results for the men's football event of the 33rd SEA Games, U22 Indonesia will be in the same group with U22 Myanmar, U22 Philippines and U22 Singapore. However, after U22 Cambodia withdrew, the organizing committee decided to move U22 Singapore to group A.
Thus, group A will include host team U22 Thailand, U22 Timor Leste and U22 Singapore.
