The Banh Day Festival at Luc Giap communal house, Dong Thai commune is recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage.

According to Decision No. 2218/QD-BVHTTDL dated June 27, 2025 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Banh Day Festival at Luc Giap communal house, Yen Thanh commune, Yen Mo district (old), now Dong Thai commune, Ninh Binh province is recognized as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage.

The Banh Day Festival at Luc Giap communal house is a traditional festival of the people of 6 villages of Yen Thanh commune (old), now Dong Thai commune with traditional rituals such as: palanquin procession, traditional sacrifices, folk games...

The festival takes place at Luc Giap communal house, which worships the communal tutelary god of the six villages (formerly called Giap), where the four gods, the sons of Lac Long Quan and Au Co, are worshiped. They taught the people here to make sticky rice cakes to thank heaven, earth, and gods and to present to the King at the beginning of the new year.

The custom of making sticky rice cakes has been around since then and has become a festival of great significance in the cultural life of the Dong Thai people over the years. After a year of hard work, people will choose the best rice grains, make sticky rice cakes and offer them to the King to show their gratitude to their ancestors, and pray for a prosperous life and a bountiful harvest.

Immediately after the Banh Day Festival of Luc Giap communal house, Yen Thanh commune, Yen Mo district (old), now Dong Thai commune, Ninh Binh province was recognized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as a National Intangible Cultural Heritage, the People's Committee of Ninh Binh province issued Document No. 14/UBND-VP6 dated July 9, 2025 to implement the management, preservation and promotion of the value of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage of Banh Day Festival of Luc Giap communal house.

The Department of Culture and Sports shall preside over and coordinate with the Departments of Finance, Tourism,Education and Training, Ninh Binh Newspaper and Radio and Television, Dong Thai Commune People's Committee and relevant agencies and units to research and implement the management, preservation and promotion of the value of the Luc Giap Communal House Sticky Rice Cake Festival to ensure compliance with regulations and effectiveness.
