On the evening of October 10, at Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the opening ceremony of the first World Cultural Festival in Hanoi took place.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that culture is the red thread connecting people to people, between nations, and connecting the world together.

The first World Cultural Festival in 2025 connects the Vietnamese people with peoples around the world.

President Ho Chi Minh, the great national hero and world cultural celebrity, has determined that culture must light the way for the nation. Our Party has determined that culture is an endogenous strength, culture has national, scientific and popular characteristics.

“We are now concretizing this Party policy. Culture is truly an endogenous force, connecting people to people and connecting economies to each other,” said the Prime Minister.

Vietnam is developing the cultural and entertainment industries. From there, we will contribute to internationalization, bringing Vietnam's culture, imbued with national identity, to international friends.

At the same time, we also nationalize the cultural values of the world. Doing this will contribute to making the people truly enjoy Vietnamese culture, as well as the civilization of the world.

The Prime Minister hopes that ministries, branches, localities, especially countries that have relations with Vietnam - specifically countries that currently have embassies in Hanoi and consulates general in some cities of Vietnam - will continue to respond to the annual World Cultural Festival. From there, this diplomatic event will become a brand, continuing to make culture an endogenous strength, a connecting strength, a strength of international solidarity.

In particular, the Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Mrs. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary To Lam, for coming up with the idea of organizing the world cultural festival. This idea was responded to by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomatic agencies in Hanoi, contributing to creating a unique cultural festival.

In addition, the Prime Minister mentioned the people who are suffering the consequences of natural disasters. Because, the World Cultural Festival is also an event that strongly reflects the Vietnamese cultural identity, including the spirit of sharing, national love, and compatriotism.

The Prime Minister called on everyone to express their sympathy and support to people affected by climate change, especially the continuous storms and floods. In the third quarter, there were 8 storms, 4 in September alone, causing heavy damage to many areas.

The Prime Minister sent his condolences to the disaster-stricken areas and called on the people of the whole country and international friends to join hands to support the affected localities.

The first World Cultural Festival in Hanoi took place from October 10 to 12 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel Heritage Center. This is a key cultural diplomacy activity of Vietnam in 2025, aiming to honor the value of cultural diversity and enhance people-to-people exchanges.

According to the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), the five most beautiful costumes of designers Van Hang (Desilk), Vu Viet Ha, Co Phuc Mi Xiem Y, Anh Thu (Ngan An) and Ha Trinh (Hanuo) in the program "Heritage Footsteps" will be auctioned to raise charity funds.

Artist Ngo Ba Hoang will also donate a 1.8x5m painting and a lotus ceramic vase to auction, contributing to supporting people in disaster areas.

The organizers will expand the auction list, calling for donations to support people affected by floods. All proceeds will be public, transparent, and transferred to damaged localities to rebuild houses, schools and civil works.
