The 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day must be brief, solemn, and of national significance.

The working session was chaired by Politburo members: Nguyen Trong Nghia, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee; General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense; Nguyen Van Nen, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

According to the report of Ho Chi Minh City, the City People's Committee issued Plan No. 5121/KH-UBND dated December 30, 2022 on organizing activities towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.

On that basis, 5 Subcommittees (Propaganda Subcommittee; Commemorative Activities and Construction Organization Subcommittee; Gratitude and Movement Organization Subcommittee; Reception - Logistics Subcommittee; Security Subcommittee) have issued plans and implemented them synchronously to the grassroots.

In general, by November 2024, the Steering Committee, Organizing Committee, and 5 Sub-committees of the city have implemented synchronously, creating a strong spread of awareness and responsibility among the city's people on the theme of propaganda, meaning, and purpose of activities towards the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification; clearly defining the role and responsibility of Ho Chi Minh City that has been trusted and assigned by the Central Government.

General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense spoke at the meeting.

Regarding the preparation for the Anniversary, based on the Master Plan and the Plan for organizing the Incense Offering Ceremony, commemorating the heroic martyrs and the Anniversary, parade and march in Ho Chi Minh City, the city is developing a specific Plan to organize the activities. Currently, the city has completed the perspective design of the Anniversary program; is collecting opinions on the design of the flower float models for the parade and march.

Speaking at the meeting, General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member, Deputy Secretary of the Central Military Commission, Minister of National Defense said that we are trying to do our best to meet the expectations of those who are still alive and have sacrificed their lives, and at the same time pay tribute to the heroes and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country and the Fatherland to have April 30. The Ministry of National Defense will try its best to make the 50th Anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification a great success.

Comrade Nguyen Van Nen, Politburo member, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, said that the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day is a milestone marking the country entering a new era, an era of national growth, so all stages of organization, coordination and preparation must be at that level and in that spirit.

Concluding the working session, Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee affirmed that the event celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day demonstrates the aspiration for peace, independence, freedom, unity, the whole country moving towards socialism and now the country is heading towards a new era, the era of national growth.

The Politburo and the Secretariat have set very high requirements for the organization of the celebration, both recalling the significance of the event and being innovative. The celebration must be attractive, safe, economical, and serve the people best.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department, Permanent Deputy Head of the Central Steering Committee delivered a concluding speech at the working session.

Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia requested that Ho Chi Minh City complete the overall plan for the mid-December celebration and send it to the Central Propaganda Department to submit to the Secretariat for comments to direct the implementation of assigned tasks.

Regarding the parade and march script, the Head of the Central Propaganda Department assigned the Ministry of National Defense to develop the commentary and select the narrator; the program for the parade and march is chaired by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with Ho Chi Minh City, the Ministry of National Defense, and the Ministry of Public Security to develop the overall and detailed script. The celebration must be brief, solemn, appropriate to the nature and scale of the national level.

Regarding the commemorative speech, comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia requested that the Vietnam-US relationship must be consistent with the spirit of putting the past behind, overcoming differences, promoting similarities, and moving towards a sustainable future of development.
