Plan to build Lam Vien bypass in Da Lat connecting National Highway 27C

Lam Dong province has a plan to invest in building a Lam Vien bypass connecting National Highway 27C and the road to Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa) to reduce traffic congestion in the center of Da Lat.

On September 1, the Office of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee announced that it had just issued a notice of the conclusion of Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai, Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee on urban traffic planning and the list of priority investment projects in urban traffic works in the Da Lat area; including a plan to build Lam Vien bypass connecting through National Highway 27C.

Lam Dong provincial leaders directed the Department of Construction and Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat to prepare content and propose the Provincial People's Committee to work with the Army Academy ( Ministry of National Defense ) on the investment plan to build the Lam Vien bypass connecting National Highway 27C.

The existing Lam Vien loop road is about 6.5 km long, with a planned road width of 24 m, from Mai Anh Dao Street to Me Linh Street (near Than Tho Lake). Previously, the French called Lam Vien loop road Tour de 99 points de vue (99 scenic loop road) or Tour de Chasse (hunting loop road). Lam Vien loop road is located in Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat, but most of the road is located in the area of ​​the Army Academy.

New route reduces traffic congestion

Currently, Lam Vien roundabout from Mai Anh Dao - Nguyen Tu Luc intersection (near Love Valley Tourist Area) has a hot asphalt concrete road about 6m wide, but it only extends about 2km to Kim La Rung Tourist Area (next to Chien Thang Lake) and is jammed. The opposite direction from Me Linh road to Chien Thang Lake is also jammed (because there is no road yet).

A leader of the Department of Transport of Lam Dong province (old) said that Lam Vien bypass is planned as a belt road of Da Lat city (old). According to the general planning of Da Lat city (old) and its surrounding areas until 2030 and vision to 2050 (Decision 704/QD-TTG of the Prime Minister dated May 12, 2014), a route will be opened from Lam Vien bypass through National Highway 27C to shorten the distance from National Highway 27C to the center of Da Lat, more importantly to reduce traffic congestion in the Chi Lang and Phan Chu Trinh areas (Lam Vien Ward - Da Lat).

Currently, from the Love Valley tourist area, to get to the Darahoa roundabout, National Highway 27C to go to Nha Trang (Khanh Hoa), you have to go around along Nguyen Tu Luc Street through Suong Nguyet Anh, Nguyen Dinh Chieu to join Phan Chu Trinh, Ho Xuan Huong, Ngo Gia Tu streets, which is more than 10km long, and is often congested. But if there is a Lam Vien Roundabout connecting National Highway 27C, the distance will only be about 4km.

Lam Dong provincial leaders also assigned the Department of Construction to survey and evaluate a number of other belt roads in the Lam Vien ring road area to have a backup plan in case the route through national defense land is not feasible.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Hai also assigned the Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 1 to prioritize the proposal of investment policies for medium-term projects 2026 - 2030 on routes belonging to the Da Lat belt road system to ensure synchronization and effective exploitation of routes that have been implemented, including: Upgrading and expanding the road from the Hoang Van Thu - Nguyen Dinh Quan intersection to Cam Ly - Phuoc Thanh road; upgrading provincial road 722 from Tung Lam intersection to the intersection with Cam Ly - Phuoc Thanh road; Thanh Mau road upgrade project (Lang Biang Ward - Da Lat); National Highway 20 upgrade project through the center of Xuan Truong Ward - Da Lat.
