According to the decision of Vietnam Social Security, monthly pension and social insurance allowance payments start from the 2nd to the 10th of the month of payment. For cases of payment at post offices and service points of Vietnam Post , the payment schedule is from the 11th to the 25th of the month.
Previously, the pension payment schedule for August 2023 had changed due to Decree 42/2023/ND-CP on adjusting pensions and social insurance benefits, which will not take effect until August 14, 2023. Therefore, to comply with the effective date of Decree 42, Vietnam Social Security has announced that the pension payment for August 2023 will be made from August 14.
During the August payment period, beneficiaries will receive salary and social insurance benefits at the new level; and will also receive the additional difference of July 2023.
According to Vietnam Social Security, from September 2023 onwards, the Social Security agency will pay pensions and monthly allowances according to the old regular schedule as in July 2023.
Vietnam Social Security is coordinating with Vietnam Post to implement monthly pension and social insurance benefits payments in two forms: via bank accounts (ATMs) and cash at payment points.
However, because the National Day holiday on September 2nd this year falls on a weekend, officials, civil servants and employees will have 4 days off, from Friday (September 1st) to Monday (September 4th), so the pension payment schedule for September will also change and will be decided by the Social Insurance of each locality and is expected to start payment from September 5th.
In Ho Chi Minh City, according to the announcement of Ho Chi Minh City Social Insurance, the schedule for paying pensions and social insurance benefits in September in cash starts from September 5 to 25. Payment via ATM starts from September 5 to September 6.
In Hanoi, in some districts, pension and cash allowance payments will be implemented from September 6.
From July 1, 2023, 8 groups of subjects will receive an increase of 12.5% and 20.8% on pension, social insurance benefits and monthly allowances.
In addition, those whose pension, disability allowance, and monthly allowance after adjustment are lower than VND 2.7 million/month will be adjusted to increase by VND 300,000/month. Those whose pension, disability allowance, and monthly allowance after adjustment are from VND 2.7 million/month to less than VND 3 million/month will be adjusted to increase by VND 3 million/month.
Since 2007, the basic salary has increased four times from VND 450,000 to VND 1.8 million. Pensions have been adjusted to increase 11 times, nearly 4.5 times higher than the pension level in 2006, much higher than the growth rate of the consumer price index in the period 2007-2023 of 2.8 times.
The social insurance policy has been ensuring the payment of pensions, social insurance benefits and monthly allowances for 3.3 million people, and annually ensuring payment for millions of people receiving sick leave and maternity benefits.
The gradual increase in pensions over the years demonstrates the State’s concern for the lives of workers. Those with low pensions are given priority for higher increases to ensure their livelihoods. In addition, retirees also receive free health insurance.
