To prepare for the 2025 Women's Volleyball World Championship taking place in late August in Thailand, the Vietnamese women's team plans to play international matches with Kenya and Spain at Dong Anh Stadium.
In the first match, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team will face Kenya, ranked 23rd, just 1 place below the Vietnamese women's team.
Kenya is currently the highest ranked women's volleyball team in Africa. They have won 10 African Championships and 5 African Games gold medals.
This team has participated in the Olympics 4 times (most recently in 2024) and 6 times in the World Championship, the best result being 13th place (1994, 1998).
The African team is also a group G opponent with the Vietnamese women's team at the upcoming World Cup.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese women's team just won the second round of SEA V.League 2025.
This championship will be a great motivation for coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team to confidently look forward to friendly matches, especially the World Cup at the end of August in Thailand as well as the 33rd SEA Games at the end of the year.
In terms of personnel, the Vietnamese women's team still retains the same squad that competed in SEA V.League 2025.
With their rising form, determination, and support from home ground and home fans, the Vietnamese women's team is expected to achieve good results in friendly matches before going to Thailand to compete in the world tournament.
The friendly match between the Vietnam women's team and Kenya will be broadcast live on VTVCab's digital platforms, ON Sports, VTV Prime and ON Plus applications.
