This year, Hanoi National University of Education opens 5 new majors, including: Biotechnology, Physics (Semiconductor Physics and Engineering), History, Sociology, Vietnamese Language and Culture.

In particular, for the Physics major (Semiconductor Physics and Engineering), the school plans to enroll 120 students for 3 methods including direct admission of candidates with outstanding abilities and achievements (24 students), admission based on ability assessment test scores (36 students), admission based on 2025 high school graduation exam scores (60 students).

Similarly, three schools under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, including the University of Technology, the University of Natural Sciences and the Vietnam-Japan University, also opened their first bachelor's/engineering program in semiconductors.

Semiconductor enrollment targets of specific schools are as follows.

STT School Branch Indicators Tuition fees (estimated)
1 Hanoi University of Science and Technology Microelectronics and Nanotechnology 180 22-28 million VND/year
2 Hanoi National University of Education Physics (Semiconductor Physics and Engineering) 120
3 University of Science (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) Semiconductor technology 140 15-37 million VND/year
4 Vietnam-Japan University (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) Semiconductor chip technology 100 58 million VND/year
5 University of Technology (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) Electronic and Telecommunication Engineering Technology focuses on electronic circuit design and Materials Technology - Microelectronics. 600 32-40 million VND/year
6 Hanoi University of Industry Semiconductor microchip
7 Hanoi University of Science and Technology Semiconductor technology 56 million VND/year
8 CMC University Electronic and Telecommunications Engineering Technology (major in Semiconductor Circuit Design) 50 54-78 million VND/year
9 Phenikaa University Telecommunications Electronics Engineering (major in Semiconductor Circuit Design) 150 46.2 million VND/year

According to calculations by the Ministry of Information and Communications, the domestic semiconductor industry needs 10,000 engineers each year, but current human resources meet less than 20%.

The Government's project "Developing human resources for the semiconductor industry to 2030, with a vision to 2050" sets a target that by 2030, Vietnam will train at least 50,000 bachelors/engineers to serve the semiconductor industry in all stages of the semiconductor industry value chain such as: design, packaging, testing and manufacturing of microchips and semiconductors.

Of these, about 15,000 are microchip design engineers, 35,000 engineers work in chip manufacturing, packaging and testing factories, and 5,000 have deep expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) to serve the semiconductor industry. In addition, in-depth training on the semiconductor industry will be provided to 1,300 Vietnamese lecturers teaching at research institutes, universities, training support facilities and businesses.
