This is a 5G Open RAN event co-organized by Viettel and Qualcomm. The event with the theme “ Enabling the Future: Core Technologies for Open RAN at Scale” focuses on core technologies for deploying Open RAN on a global scale.
The event gathered representatives of organizations, telecommunications enterprises, domestic and foreign researchers to discuss the roadmap for expanding the commercialization of Open RAN, towards an efficient and sustainable digital infrastructure. Speakers came from the Global Mobile Association (GSMA), the International Association for Open RAN (ORAN Alliance); the Ministry of Science & Technology; Qualcomm Group, Viettel High Tech, Viettel Networks, Gartner, etc.

At the event, GSMA will share the development potential and impact of Open RAN technology on the global telecommunications industry. O-RAN Alliance will update the current development status of O-RAN and orientation for the upcoming 5G–6G network era. Qualcomm will highlight the importance of application-specific processing chips (ASICs) in expanding the Open RAN platform.
Along with that, Gartner announced a 5G RAN market analysis report, in which a Vietnamese enterprise was specially recognized for the first time in the report " Gartner Magic Quadrant 2025 for CSP 5G RAN Infrastructure Solutions " - an important reference document for network operators when choosing equipment suppliers. Viettel representatives will also share their experience in large-scale practical deployment in Vietnam, contributing to affirming Vietnam's position on the world telecommunications map.
In November 2024, Viettel officially commercialized the 5G Open RAN ASIC "Make in Vietnam" base station - a milestone affirming the capacity of Vietnamese enterprises to independently research and develop 5G equipment.
By the end of December 2025, Viettel High Tech will deploy 2,500 5G Open RAN stations nationwide. Test results show that Viettel 5G devices using Qualcomm chipsets help save up to 24% of power under high load conditions, while maintaining stable performance with download speeds of 1.2–1.7 Gb/s, on par with the world's leading suppliers.
In 2024, the event made a splash when Viettel announced the commercialization of Vietnamese 5G equipment. This year, the program continues with the theme “Enabling the Future: Core Technologies for Open RAN at Scale”, focusing on core technologies to deploy Open RAN on a global scale.
