Revealing 34 valedictorians in Hanoi's excellent student selection exam in 2025

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training announced the list of 34 valedictorians in 13 subjects at the City's Excellent Student Selection Exam and selected the team to compete in the national cultural subjects for 12th graders in the 2025-2026 school year.

This year, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training organized an exam to select excellent students of the city and select teams to compete in the national level in cultural subjects for grade 12 high school students in 2 groups. Each subject has groups A and B, respectively for non-specialized and specialized students. In each group, the exam questions and scoring methods are different.

The exam recorded 2,839 students winning prizes, of which 142 students won first prizes, 596 students won second prizes, 807 students won third prizes and 1,294 students won encouragement prizes. According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, there were a total of 34 valedictorians, of which group A had 14 valedictorians and group B had 20 valedictorians.

In group A, two students from Yen Hoa High School won the title of valedictorian: Nguyen Vu Tuan Minh (Informatics, perfect score) and Nguyen Gia Khanh (Chemistry).

The remaining valedictorians come from Co Loa High School, Phan Dinh Phung High School, Khuong Dinh High School, Cao Ba Quat High School - Gia Lam, Thach That High School...

In Group B, Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted almost "overwhelmed" with 12 out of 20 valedictorians, spread evenly across the subjects of Geography, Chemistry, History, Biology, Informatics, Mathematics, Chinese and Physics. Le Trong Khoi - a student specializing in Informatics achieved a near-perfect score of 39.5/40 points.

The City's excellent student selection exam and the selection of excellent student teams to compete in the national level cultural subjects for 12th graders were held in Hanoi on September 22-23, 2025, with the participation of more than 4,900 candidates.

This is the first year that Hanoi has organized the exam in two groups A and B, to encourage and motivate students from non-specialized high schools, while ensuring fairness in testing and evaluation. Therefore, the number of candidates increased by about 500 students compared to 2024.
