Good harvest

According to CGV Vietnam, Gemini Hung Huynh will voice the character Fishlegs Ingerman in the live-action version of How to Train Your Dragon , playing Hiccup's best friend and a "living encyclopedia" about dragons in Berk.

At the same time, Le Bong - a prominent face on social networks also participated in the animated project De Men: Adventure to the Swamp Village . However, her specific voiceover character has not been announced by the producer.

Hung Huynh and Le Bong are famous faces on the internet, who are not specialized in dubbing, but have joined this vibrant field.

Actor Tien Luat received positive reviews for voicing the animated character in the movie "Lilo & Stitch"

Previously, many famous names of Vietnamese showbiz have also entered or reappeared in this role, such as: Thai Hoa, Ky Duyen, Neko Le, Misthy ( Holy night: Ghost hunting team ); Meritorious Artist Dai Nghia, Minh Du, Le Nam, Lac Hoang Long, Long Chun, Dat Long Vinh, Huynh Bao Ngoc ( My beloved bear ); Hong Dao, Quoc Truong ( Love for money, crazy for love ); Le Duong Bao Lam, La Thanh, Diep Bao Ngoc ( 404: Run away ); Mac Van Khoa, Huynh Thanh Truc, Vo Tan Phat and People's Artist Hong Van ( Rider: Delivering goods to ghosts )...

Two animated films released from May 23 will have dubbed versions. In which, Tien Luat takes on the role of "monster" Stitch in Lilo & Stitch. Doraemon: Nobita and the adventure into the world in the picture has the participation of baby Xa Xi and the couple Salim - Hai Long, along with professional voice actors.

On the occasion of May 30, two animated films Trang Quynh nhi: Legend of Kim Nguu and De Men: Adventure to Xom Lay Loi will also be released in theaters with dubbed versions. Notably, Trang Quynh nhi: Legend of Kim Nguu has 2 dubbed versions specifically for audiences in the North and South. This is considered a "big" decision by the crew that, according to director and voiceover artist Dat Phi, even large foreign studios have not done before.

Artist Dat Phi added that he and his team will be responsible for the Southern dubbing. Meanwhile, the Northern dubbing version will feature: People's Artist Ta Tuan Minh; Meritorious Artists Trong Phan, Doi Anh Quan, Nong Dung Nam, Chieu Xuan, director Le Hieu... and many child voice actors. Meritorious Artist Trinh Lam Tung - the film's director, will also participate in the dubbing.

Many challenges

At the premiere of Lilo & Stitch , actor Tien Luat shared his anxiety when accepting to voice the character Stitch because this is a difficult role, with distorted pronunciation and not following normal language. He said he had to express himself completely without using special effects. A scene that only lasts 3 seconds in the film - Stitch's laughter took him nearly 2 hours to complete correctly.

Actor Quoc Truong, after participating in dubbing in the movie Love for Money, Crazy for Love , also commented that this job is no less difficult than live acting.

Recently, besides the successes, many dubbed films have also received negative reactions from the audience, especially about the voices of some famous people invited to participate. The couple Salim - Hai Long, who voiced 2 characters in Doraemon: Nobita and the Adventures in the Picture World , were criticized for lacking emotion, having monotone voices and being out of tune compared to the rest of the cast.

Audience member Van Ha (Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City) expressed: "I am really disappointed and feel down every time I come to the scene with the voiceover of these two people."

On a voiceover forum with more than 7,000 members, many opinions say that inviting celebrities to voice over is not always effective, and if not suitable, it can be counterproductive.

In response to the audience's feedback, the representative of the copyright holder of Doraemon in Vietnam - Tagger admitted that he was "sad because he did not meet expectations" and said it was difficult to change because the film had completed post-production.

Previously, Ky Duyen was also criticized for lacking inner strength and emotion when dubbing the character of the Priest in Holy Night: Demon Hunters . The dubbing of the movie Rider: Ghost Delivery was also criticized for lacking harmony between the voices.

Artist Dat Phi added that inviting celebrities to participate in dubbing is not new, and is currently a popular trend in many countries. In Vietnam, there have been both successful and failed projects with the participation of stars.

“Choosing a voice actor cannot be arbitrary. Every choice must go through a strict casting process. In case the partner requests to invite a celebrity but it is not suitable, the sound director must also be ready to give frank feedback. Celebrities are important, but the film is much more important,” artist Dat Phi affirmed.
