Gia Loc 516 rice is suitable for green growth agricultural production.

That is the assessment of the Center for Research and Development of Purebred Rice (Institute of Food Crops and Food Plants). In the spring crop of 2024, the center will deploy 6 models of planting Gia Loc 516 rice variety in Cam Giang, Nam Sach, Binh Giang, Gia Loc, Tu Ky districts with an area of 100 hectares. The rice variety in the model is compared with Bac Thom No. 7 rice variety (a rice variety that is being widely planted in many places).

The entire rice area in the model applies the "Advanced Cultivation Technique Package" such as sowing by machine and sowing by seed sprayer; water-saving irrigation, using biological products, fertilizing by machine; spraying pesticides when reaching the threshold according to the 4-right rule and spraying by drone.

The results showed that Gia Loc 516 rice has better resistance to pests and diseases, is stronger and more resistant to lodging than the control variety. The expected rice yield is 67.5 - 69.3 quintals/ha, 10 - 15% higher than the control variety.

Gia Loc 516 rice yield is 10 - 15% higher than the control variety Bac Thom No. 7.

Gia Loc 516 rice has the ability to grow well in natural conditions in Hai Duong ; especially adaptable to new farming conditions and the use of biological products. The application of "Advanced farming technique package" will help farmers access new varieties and new farming techniques to bring high economic efficiency, free up labor and be suitable for serving agricultural production in the direction of green growth in Hai Duong .
