On the afternoon of October 9, at the Ho Chi Minh City socio -economic press conference, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (Traffic Board) provided information on the progress of the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project.
According to the Traffic Department, the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project is being accelerated by contractors across the entire construction site. Up to now, the output has reached about 60.1% of the construction value, in which 10 main packages are racing to meet the schedule.
On September 19, 2025, the Traffic Department chaired the signing ceremony of the 100-day competition agreement between the investor, contractors and the supervision consultant unit.
The parties committed to mobilizing people and machinery to speed up progress, striving to complete sections that can be opened to traffic (officially exploited) and technically opened to traffic according to the direction of Deputy Prime Minister Mai Van Chinh on October 1, 2025.
According to the new updated plan, the 14.7km long overpass section through the old Thu Duc City will be opened to traffic on April 30, 2026, instead of the end of 2025 as before.
The reason is to synchronize with Tan Van intersection, part of component project 5 (section through old Binh Duong province, invested by Binh Duong Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board) which is also expected to be completed by April 30, 2026.

The units will strive to technically open 12.8km of the overpass, from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway interchange to the Dong Tron bridge area, on December 19, 2025.
In the west of the city, the 32.6km crushed stone road is expected to be completed on December 19, 2025, and the entire expressway will be open to traffic on April 30, 2026.
Thus, if the current construction pace is maintained, the entire section of Ring Road 3 through Ho Chi Minh City, including the overpass and expressway, will be completed and put into operation synchronously in 2026.
Recently, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City issued a document requesting to speed up construction progress and "finalize" the completion date of a number of infrastructure traffic projects and items.
Regarding the Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 project, the Traffic Department is required to open the eastern section (14.7km viaduct) and technically open the western section before December 31.
Material sources for belt 3 have been secured.
According to the Traffic Department, the material source for the project has been basically guaranteed. Thanks to the strong direction of the Government and support from Ho Chi Minh City and other localities, 16 sand mines in Vinh Long and Dong Thap (total capacity of 3.9 million m³) have met the remaining demand of 1.54 million m³.
Nine quarries in Dong Nai and Binh Duong will supply 1.55 million m³ in 2025, enough for the required volume. However, by the end of 2025, when many large projects accelerate, the demand for materials, especially stone, will increase. The Transport Department recommends that localities prioritize supply to ensure project progress.
