The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just issued a decision to establish a Steering Committee for key public investment projects and works to strengthen direction, coordination and remove obstacles in the implementation of large-scale infrastructure projects.

According to the decision, the Steering Committee for key public investment projects and works consists of 16 members. Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc - Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - is the head of the committee, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong - Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee - holds the position of permanent deputy head of the committee.

The remaining members are leaders of departments and affiliated units, such as the Department of Home Affairs, Finance, Construction, Industry and Trade, Justice, Culture - Sports, Science - Technology, Agriculture - Environment, Health, Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, along with leaders of construction investment project management boards and the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board.

The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Finance to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments, agencies and units to provide specific advice on the tasks, powers and operating mechanism of the Steering Committee. At the same time, review and supplement the list of key public investment projects and works, and submit it to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee in September 2025.

This Decision takes effect and replaces Decision No. 2075/QD-UBND dated May 23, 2025 of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the establishment of a similar Steering Committee as before.

Currently, Ho Chi Minh City is implementing many large-scale infrastructure projects such as Ring Road 3 and 4, Moc Bai Expressway, Metro Line 2, An Phu Interchange, flood control works, healthcare, education , etc. These are important projects, involving many departments and branches, and are prone to problems with capital, procedures and site clearance.

The establishment of the Steering Committee is to create a unified mechanism, strengthen coordination, promptly handle difficulties, speed up progress, ensure project quality, contribute to improving infrastructure and promoting economic and social development of the city and neighboring areas.
