Thousands of monks, nuns, Buddhists, and people of various ethnic groups from near and far gathered at the ancient Thanh Pagoda on the banks of the Ky Cung River to attend the ceremony. Besides performing religious rituals, the Executive Board of the Buddhist Association of Lang Son province also presented many social welfare gifts to the local community.

On the evening of May 29th, at Thanh Pagoda (Luong Van Tri Ward), the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Lang Son Province solemnly organized the Great Buddha's Birthday Celebration, Buddhist Calendar 2570 - Gregorian Calendar 2026.

Attending the grand ceremony were Ms. Tran Thanh Nhan, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, provincial departments and agencies; representatives of the Party Committee, People's Committee, and Fatherland Front Committee of several wards and communes, along with a large number of monks, Buddhists, and people and tourists from all over.

Among the thousands of people attending the ceremony, there were many female monks, nuns, and Buddhist followers.

The Buddha's Birthday celebration is a major event held on the full moon day of the fourth lunar month to honor the profound philosophical values ​​of Siddhartha Gautama Buddha regarding peace, altruism, and compassion. The Buddha's Birthday celebration is recognized by the United Nations as one of the global cultural events.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Tran Thanh Nhan acknowledged the contributions of religious leaders, officials, and Buddhist followers to strengthening national unity and the development of Lang Son province. Over the years, religious leaders, officials, and Buddhist followers in the province have continued the fine traditions of Vietnamese Buddhism, upholding the spirit of "protecting the nation and ensuring the people's well-being," actively participating in patriotic emulation movements, and contributing to the successful achievement of socio -economic development goals and ensuring national defense and security in the province.

The provincial leaders requested the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of the province, its dignitaries, officials, monks, and Buddhist followers to continue building on the achievements made, always working alongside the Party committees and authorities at all levels, further promoting the patriotic tradition and spirit of solidarity, actively participating in building an increasingly clean and strong government, and working together to build Lang Son into a prosperous, beautiful, and civilized province.

On the occasion of this year's Buddha's Birthday celebration, continuing to respond to the program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses in the province, the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Association of Lang Son province, in coordination with the Lang Son Provincial Youth Union and the Provincial Red Cross Society, supported the construction of two solidarity houses for disadvantaged families living in temporary or dilapidated houses, with a total value of 60 million VND; donated 10 million VND to the "Lang Son Provincial Children's Fund" and presented a symbolic donation to the "Charity Porridge for Poor Patients" program worth 30 million VND.

All the donated funds were sourced from the "Saving Money in a Piggy Bank - Growing Kindness" program launched by Thanh Pagoda recently.
