Expressing his joy at welcoming the delegation to visit and work with Lai Chau province, Comrade Ha Trong Hai - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: Vietnam and Laos are two close neighboring countries, connected by mountains and rivers, the people of the two countries have a traditional relationship of loyalty and long-standing attachment. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, that relationship has been increasingly expanded and developed to new heights. Up to now, the two countries have always stood side by side, fostering great friendship, special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation, becoming invaluable assets of the two peoples, cherished, preserved and developed by generations.

At the meeting, the Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee provided general information about the natural conditions and the development of agricultural and forestry production in the province. Currently, the average growth rate of Lai Chau province's agricultural sector is 5% per year. The structure of the agricultural sector accounts for 85.5%, aquaculture 3.4% and forestry 11.1%. Lai Chau province focuses on promoting the restructuring of the agricultural sector based on the existing advantages of the locality to select key products, organize production to form concentrated specialized areas, support production associated with product consumption linkage.

By 2022, the total area of grain crops will reach 51,869 hectares; the total grain output will reach over 226,000 tons; the average food output per capita will be 467 kg/year, contributing to maintaining and ensuring food security in the province. In order for agriculture to continue to develop, Lai Chau province has determined that by 2025, it will form and develop production areas for agricultural commodities including: macadamia, tea, rubber, rice, fruit trees, ginseng, etc.
