Ronaldo is unhappy with the PIF management. |
Saudi Arabian media reported that Ronaldo's decision stemmed from growing dissatisfaction with how the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) operates and allocates resources among the clubs it controls.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano asserted that Ronaldo's absence was unrelated to his fitness, workload, or fitness management. A Bola, citing internal sources at Al Nassr, reported that Ronaldo deliberately refused to play because he felt the team wasn't receiving adequate support from the PIF (Professional Football Federation), especially when compared to direct competitors.
During the winter transfer window, Al Hilal continued to receive significant funding with notable signings, while Al Nassr remained largely inactive, despite requests from the coaching staff to strengthen the squad. This reality disappointed Ronaldo, especially given his high form with 17 goals, placing him second in the Golden Boot race.

Beyond transfer issues, CR7 was also unhappy that his two close Portuguese associates in the management team, Sporting Director Simmo Coutinho and CEO Jose Semedo, had their power restricted by a decision of the board of directors. This made Ronaldo feel that his influence in the club's development was diminishing.
Even coach Jorge Jesus once admitted that Al Nassr didn't have the same influence as Al Hilal. This prolonged period of dissatisfaction was seen as the final straw, leading to Ronaldo's decisive action.
Al Nassr currently sits in third place with 43 points, level with Al Ahli and three points behind Al Hilal. Amidst the intense title race, this disparity in investment further fuels feelings of injustice at Ronaldo's club.
