On September 27, at the Lan Vien Co Tich 2 Intercultural Rendezvous space (94-98 Bach Dang, Hue City, Thua Thien - Hue), on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam - Japan friendship (1973 - 2013), the Steering Committee for the establishment of the Phan Boi Chau Vietnam - Japan Cultural Research Association in Hue held a meeting to prepare for the launch and introduce the association's activities.
Professor Thai Kim Lan, PhD in Philosophy at Ludwig-Maximilian University, Munich (Germany), owner of the private museum of Perfume River Ancient Pottery - Lan Vien Co Tich, shared the reason why she actively participated in the Steering Committee to establish the Vietnam - Japan, Phan Boi Chau Cultural Research Association in Hue.

The meeting was attended by all members of the Campaign Committee, including: Professor, Dr. Thai Kim Lan, Ms. Ngo Thi Bich Hanh (Director of Nigita High-Tech Investment Company, Japan), Dr. Phan Thieu Cat (grandson of Phan Boi Chau), researcher Nguyen Xuan Hoa, Dr. Phan Tien Dung, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Buu Nam, Dr. Nguyen Anh Dan (Faculty of Literature, University of Education - Hue University) and many dignitaries and intellectuals in Hue City.

At the meeting, Professor Nguyen Khac Mai said that the establishment of the Vietnam - Japan and Phan Boi Chau Cultural Research Association in Hue aims to create a scientific space and opportunity to study the activities and thoughts of Phan Boi Chau and the Dong Du movement. At the same time, in-depth research on Vietnamese cultural identity and Hue culture also contributes to arousing the spirit of national pride and building a strong and prosperous country.
Dr. Phan Thieu Cat (grandson of Phan Boi Chau) revealed for the first time many details about his family, such as Phan Boi Chau's divorce from his two wives, cutting off family ties to pursue his activities; or about his philosophical thoughts through documents from Phan Boi Chau's Chu Dich book series that he was lucky enough to keep and had printed at Khai Tri bookstore for the first time...
According to Mr. Phan Thieu Cat, there are still too many great things about Phan Boi Chau that he himself still does not fully understand, and needs to be researched and deciphered soon...
Professor Ueno Tomio (former professor at Waseda University, Japan), who has been associated with Vietnam for more than 30 years and has researched the conservation of relics in the ancient capital of Hue, also shared his feelings for Vietnam, contributing many opinions on the Vietnam-Japan relationship, on the interesting similarities between the two nations, of which Phan Boi Chau was one of the people who laid the foundation for today's friendly relationship.

Professor Thai Kim Lan said that although she is a doctor of philosophy in Germany, when she was invited to be a member of the Campaign Committee, she accepted and enthusiastically supported, acting as a bridge... because since her student days, Phan Boi Chau was someone she always admired. Phan Boi Chau's ideology and the Dong Du movement had a great impact on her.
"The establishment of the Vietnam - Japan and Phan Boi Chau Cultural Research Association in Hue is a premise for the construction of the Phan Boi Chau Institute in Hue, aiming to gather people with passion to conduct scientific research on Phan, research on the Vietnam - Japan relationship to contribute to arousing the spirit of national pride in the youth. Thereby, contributing to building a developed Vietnam in Southeast Asia like the friendly country Japan has done," said Professor Thai Kim Lan.
At the meeting, intellectuals in Hue and in the country also discussed the purpose, meaning and necessity of establishing the Vietnam - Japan and Phan Boi Chau Cultural Research Association in Hue; at the same time, they contributed many ideas to build and organize activities.
